Cheers Nap, the tunic is an Acrylic base and will be painted in oils after the skin tones. :)

Doing the face and skin tones on the Tesserarius today, next to refine the leatherwork and do his tunic in oils.

Painted some smaller details and working on the Shields this week, all hand painted.

One question, Marcus.
Have you sculpted the skirts over the old ones or you've discarted them and sculpted new ones?

Thank you very much in advance for your attention.

Cheers,

Francisco

Hi Francisco, I abandoned the Miniart kit part for the tunic, cutting back the sleeves also replacing with sculpted putty.

Shields are looking fantastic, like what you have done with the Celtic one also with the Pilum embedded in it.
Cheers
Steve

Cheers Steve, still quite a bit to do on the Legionary shields including weathering and adding battle marks. Having read how the Pilum worked, particularly against the Celts seemed logical to me to embed. As floor detail the discarded shield adds to the story and fight I hope.

Whst to say except these are really coming together , the OPTIO looks a veteran and a good example of leading

Like the shields ...freehand ...loving this whole V Bench

Nice work on the weapons and armour as well as the face on the Optio

How are you finding the larger than your normal scale ?

Loving the response this V Bench is getting ...good on you for sharing

Happy benchtime

Thank you kind sir, really enjoying the process and having only ever painted one other figure similar scale it is quite different. The larger surface areas are harder to disguise any errors or defects at this scale, that brings its own challenges.

The face as does other painted areas require larger brush strokes, but similar attention to detail to the smaller scale. I’m also combining acrylic and oils in certain areas, a new process for me. Eyes are still difficult for this scale but I hope they pass the quality standard set by some very fine painters on PF.

I’m more your all rounder, can dabble in most things but don’t claim to be expert, more of a sum of all the parts kind of modeller, that hopefully creates something new with each scene I make. I love learning about the historical period I’m modelling at the time and also new process, that all add to the modelling journey of improvement and artistic endeavour, self learning and life enrichment.
