Never worked with 1/16 scale before and fancied having a go at the Miniart and ICM legionnaires.

Today I’ve roughly reconfigured a couple of the figures. I will be changing the heads and resculpting the cloth.

Worked out a simple way of changing the joint position, create a monocoque with thick styrene then drill and pin to bend the joint, similar to how I do 1/35. Will also change the sandal position, foot other small details etc.

Cant wait for the other figures to turn up, they will be more of a challenge to convert, all part of the fun though.

Nice to see what you can do with this one rather cluncky figure. Great poses and they go together perfectly!

Perhaps you could use some replacement heads on some, to get additional variety on the face?

Adrian
Thank you. I have some MAIM heads on order to replace the stock figure part, so their same look will be replaced very soon. I wanted to get to try out the composition and basic customisation at this early phase of the build.

That looks awesome. Still a lot of work to do but the start is most impressive. Following with interest!

Hi Marcus

Good to seeing you working on a bigger scale , certainly a action packed group of figures

Do like the one on the ground leaning on the shield

Following with much interest

Look forward to seeing more

Happy bench-time

Nice work... and such a large scale... look fwd to seeing it develop (y)

You mention ICM: are you going to incorporate their centurion?

Mixing manufacturers (even when same scale) can be dodgy, so it would be interesting to see if they go together OK.

BtW: I've been looking at these figs for some time and realise that what they do is have a master figure on one sprue and just change a few parts on a second sprue to create the variants. So, with the legionnaires its basically the sword/pilum, shields and praetorian's crest: their Garde/Swiss Grenadiers are just bearskin, pose and painting instructions and the French/Dutch XVII figs are again down to accoutrements. You can see this if you have a look at 'box contents' on their site:
Miniart – 16009 FRENCH MUSKETTER XVII CENTURY (miniart-models.com)
Miniart – 16010 NETHERLANDS MUSKETEER XVII CENTURY (miniart-models.com)
Miniart – 16011 FRENCH GUARDSMAN XVII CENTURY (miniart-models.com)

Not saying this is bad (in fact, just realised that that's what Poste Militaire did to create its 6 samurai variants... mainly just different heads/helmets and I suppose that's basically what Historex does): in fact I suppose it's good if it increases choice at lowest cost

That doesn’t surprise me with ICM, I’ve not used/seen their 1/16 Centurian before, so hoping it will go with the other figures in the scene, if not I may make a second smaller scene as liking the composition of those I have.
