Looking very good. Some form of lighting under the smoke would be very effective.........;)

Looks great. You can get some tiny dried flowers in potpourri sometimes. I've used them to good effect in some ladies' hats.

Daubing a few base color on to get a sense of where this will go…

Hi Matt

Getting that bit of colour in gives you direction and this is definately going in the right direction

Thanks for the updates

Looking forward to seeing more

Happy benchtime

Back to work on this. I’ve pretty much decided to turn it into a box diorama, or rather a box vignette. The figure was going poorly, so I stripped her and started over. Acrylics so far, oil’s come out tomorrow.

Could this be going any slower? I got really stuck on this one, not happy with capturing the painting's atmosphere. I've begun converting it to a box diorama, and am about halfway through the woodworking aspect, then I need to figure out how to use a bit of forced perspective to give depth. Thinking of adding a larger crow swooping toward the window. Early days still.

Wow, so creative. I hope you can make this work out.

One day I will summon up the courage to do a box diorama. I think they are amazing.

As I look at your picture of your box diorama, my attention is drawn to the crow, not the figure.
I would suggest refraining from large items in the front, unless they be at the edges only (e.g. tall grass, a branch crossing the top) and make sure that your eye is guided to the figure by the flow suggested by those items.

I do this all the time with Bonsai - particularly if I wish to display them to ensure attention is never diverted from the prime object (in my case, a Bonsai, in your case your figure)

It looks great so far. I think once you get the lighting right it will bring the best out of this scene. Maybe changing the viewing angle for the scene slightly shallower for this scene could also make a difference.

Hi Matt

All credit to you for going for this , the figure looks great painted, going for a boxed idea is a great idea

Keep updating this and enjoying the benchtime

Looking forward to seeing more

Looking good. Do please share how you use LEDs, that's one aspect I would really like to understand better.

Background and tiny cave dwellers assembled, an interesting glow for the circle itself, and the endgame planned out. Now it’s all about getting the paint effects right. The smoke column will be a challenge. I have some neat ideas for it, if I can get them to work.
