Started the Andrea figure treasure island.
The setting was completed a while ago , but I decided to use it for these figures .
The face of the prirate is finished.The kids face has its first layer of oils .
The rest are basic colours in acrylics.
I hope to finished it in a few days .

Looking great so far Marc........keep us posted as you advance with this scene. Great job on the deck.

the wood is done the way I paint the wood of rifles , knives , etc;
1.prime the piece and put on a base colour with acrylic paint .Here I used the old skin colour in the Andrea range. It looks more pink than skin .If you want you can influance the result by using another basecolour f.e. yellow ( used for guns and rifles) or a pale brown or sand colour .
2.The second layer is oilpaint . Use a brown colour f.e. burnt sienna or van dijck brown. Mix it with a bit of white spirit or thinner just enough to make it liquide .Not to use it as a wash but to put it on with a brush.
3. Now you have cover the basecolour with the mixture of brown .
4.Take an old flat brush , cut of the hairs for about 2/3 .
While the oilpaint still is wet use the cut of brush to strike it in the oilpaint .
This way you obtain a pattern of wood because the amout of paint removed with the brush makes the basecolour visible.
5.Ad shades with raw umber.
