I've completed the waistecoat, by building up the shadows and highlights.
Following that I painted the belt and pistol.
For the belt I used the SC75 leather set after applying a basecoat of Vallejo Chocolate brown.
For the pistol butt, SC75 Red Leather was used as a base, the ware was added with SC75 Orange Leather and Iroko.
I used a dark ink for the shading, which has produced a nice effect.
I need to add a little further work to the buttons and buckel before moving on.

Brilliant work on the waist coat, the belt and pistol look awesome this is really shaping up to be an epic piece.

Cheers Simon
Thanks Simon, I feel he's coming together, but there's still so much to do.
I've begun painting the crutch, and I need to do a little work on his left arm before I can fit it in position.
So progress may slow down a little, but one things for sure, I'm really enjoying this.

Malcolm,
It's coming along nicely. Maybe I'll get to see him [and his parrot?] this coming Saturday at FMMG. The textures and their shading are where I'm gaining most. Your paint choice details are very helpful. Thanks.

Good I'm pleased to hear you're enjoying it, you seem to be getting a bit more painting time than you thought. Long may it continue.

Cheers Simon

Thanks Simon, I've been lucky to get a fair amount of painting time, although that may change a little before Christmas. More Grandad duty.
The tricky part is up next, the coat. Fingers crossed I don't mess it up.

He is progressing nicely Malc. I think the ink has worked well on the wood, it's an effective technique.
Thanks Nigel, I did a little research on this style of pistol, and used that as a guide.
I had an idea of the finish of what I wanted to achieve, I was surprised when it turned out
exactly that. That doesn't often happen.

Hi Malc

Catching up with this cracking piece , do like what you done on the scarf , the Hat and waistcoat look the business

The way the leather and wood has come out looks good , nicely worn and weathered

Still can’t get over the face ....just packed full of the look of a pirate

Thanks for all the updates

Have fun @ the bench

Busy morning blocking out the coat, I've used Scale Colour Violet Grey,
It will be toned down and weathered in the next session.
