Thanks Nap, I'm really enjoying working on this.
Now that Long John is finished, well for now at least, I'm going to have some fun and paint Captain Flint ( The Parrot)
before starting work on Young Jim Hawkins.
And Mo has just ordered me a new set of darts for my birthday.
Now that's what you call a very considerate cat.

Putting Long John Silver aside for the time being to work on Captain Flint.
I googled lots of photos of Parrots before deciding on a colour scheme that I thought would suit the bust.
Apart from the orange, I've used the SC75 blue set, which matched the colours perfectly.
There's still a little more work on the final detail, before I move on to Jim Hawkins.

Really like the parrot Malc the colours are like you say spot on and very vibrant, fantastic job.

I've made a start on adding flesh tones to young Jim Hawkins, again I have used the AK flesh paint set for this.
At this stage I've tried to give him a bit of a tan, and graduate to various tones as best as I can.
Think it needs tidying up a little before going any further.
For the hair a basecoat of Vallejo Yellow ochre, with a touch of Chocolate brown, before highlighting
with Yellow Ochre with the addition of White. Finally a wash of inks to bring out the detail.

That's a truly wonderful 'boyish' smooth skin tone, which contrasts nicely against that of LJS.

Nice one Malc, you have caught youth very well there,he almost looks like a girl, which I doubt he'd appreciate! The hair is great, blond never being easy but it looks salt washed and sun bleached ax you would expect. This is going great guns mate, please finish in time for North Surrey.
