Think its safe to say that the feather bonnet is now done. (apart from the hackle). Quite happy with it although there are a few wee bits to tidy up.

To make the painting easier the feathery part lifts off.

Cheers, Barrie.

Lol, definitely first time trying this Keith. Been looking through a lot of threads on here and there I was asking a lot of questions when I was at Euro.
Cheers mate,
Barrie.

Thankyou Mark, Andrew and Gary for the kind comments. Have moved on now to the tunic (collar not done yet).

Approached it like it was a"tailors dummy" used a paper template for the back and front, 3 in all, and used them to cut the shape of the putty that was rolled flat. Have marked the straps locations using thin plastic card from the spares box. Hopefully this will help with the folds.

Cheers,
Barrie.

Hi Barrie, I have sat back to see this thread run as I think I knew what was coming and I didn't want to chip in too soon. Well you have done as I suspected, done a brilliant job, but you have also surpassed what I thought. Now I love your painting but I truely believe, as shown, you are an equally accomplished sculptor. As Mike has said, and I agree, go for half figure next. Your crisp and neat work echoes the way you paint and it is a pleasure to see your sculpting is the same. Get comfortable mate and you can do a piece for me anytime at this quality, brilliant and very very well done
And I can be a fussy bugger lol :)
Merry Christmas to you mate and your dear lady
Gra and Cath x

Gra, thank you for your praise and generous comments, when I read your post the dear lady thought something was wrong with me as I was smiling from ear to ear. To be honest the praise should be shared with other members of PF who have shared their techniques in their posts and have answered the many questions I have asked. What you can see in the pics posted from the start is a result of this. This has been a project that I have and still am enjoying and look forward to doing a bit more tonight.
Perhaps one day, a half figure will be tried like Mike and yourself suggest. I am just glad that others are enjoying what they see and hope not to disappoint with the finished piece.
Again Gra and everyone else thanks for the kind words and support.

Barrie.
