Mea culpa - I should have explained.
Pawel is, I believe, the site administrator and owner - pwadm is his Planetfigure user id. After some online discussions by various members about accessing text and photos of uniforms, weapons and field equipment, he agreed to set up the Uniform Reference topics. He helped solve problems as I was loading my collection of about 2500 photos and text items related mostly to the Great War.
Carl is a site moderator and was involved in setting up the Uniform Reference.
To find the Uniform Reference images and texts, go to the last topic on the bottom of the Forums page, "Uniform Reference". If you click on that, you should see a long list of topics organized by conflict or major theme beginning with "Roman, Greek and Egyptian" and ending with "post 2000 Miscellaneous". Clicking the topic "WW1" should take you to another page which begins with posting guidelines. From this second page, clicking on "WW1" should take you to a page of the names of combatant nations. Clicking on "Austro-Hungarian Empire" should take you to a topics list showing field equipment, weapons and uniforms worn/used by soldiers, sailors and airmen of the Austro-Hungarian Empire during the First World War. Clicking on the equipment topic "Rucksacks, Mountain packs, Haversacks" should take you to photos of these items. Other topics include text, schematic drawings, plan view drawings, .pdf files, links to other sites, and, where needed or few photos were loaded, illustrations. Illustrations are not favored due to the opportunity for artist mistakes. Clicking on the weapons topic "Trench Mortars" should take you to six photos of minenwerfers and trench mortars. Clicking on the uniforms topic "Mountain and Ski Troops" should take you to a short text description of these soldiers. One of the things I tried to do with this text is explain the similarities and differences of the Imperial Royal Landwehr, Kaiserjagers, Kaiserschutzen, Gebirgsinfanterie, and Landeschutzen Regiments of the KUK Armee. I frequently used excerpts from Wikipedia or other online sites to provide text info. Attached to the page you should see 59 photos of these Mountain and Ski Troops.
I've used your Excel pages several times and always successfully found information I needed, mostly for modelling projects. It's a credit to you and an invaluable reference and service. I recognize the organizing and cataloging effort you put into it! I'd be surprised if you didn't see the Planetfigure Uniform Reference pages as 'reinventing the wheel' somewhat and have no problem personally with that opinion or your use of Excel to catalog and link to relevant sites and information. Speaking only for myself, the 'more the merrier'!
All the best,
Dan
