as I said I've a couple of subject in progress...

Murat as king of Naples

The combination of the FI10 Murat reference and the FIC12 Colonel Wolff reference makes it possible to create a historically reliable figure.
The hypothesis is that the tiger leather saddle (painted by Gros in the famous painting below, transformed into a soldier years ago) has also been used on various occasions and in different uniforms.

This is a plausible hypothesis precisely because it combines historically reliable and consistent elements both in terms of period and geographical region (the Kingdom of Naples).

The most complex part of the transformation was to remove the old saddle and insert the pins and in the legs of the horse resting on the ground. A saddle of historex tiger has been decomposed and reassembled by closing the stuccoes with milliput terracotta.

Beautiful work......... complimenti Signor Preda.......

some progress.... close to the end

Why is it that I don't want this thread to end? I had to go over ever posting more than once.

Your vision and talent is something we can all aspire to some day.

WOW!

Regards, Ben

Hello Ivo. Yesterday I visited Dunrobin Castle here in the far north of Scotland, the ancestral home of the Duke of Sutherland who was colonel of the 93rd Highlanders. In the castle there is one room given over to military items and there I made a surprise discovery concerning the regimental colour carried at Lucknow in 1857. The photographs show such a colour, this being one that was presented to the 93rd in 1857 but after the Indian Mutiny. You will see that battle honours are clearly shown and include Lucknow and the Relief of Lucknow. Is it too much to deduce that the colour carried at Lucknow is the same as this but without the two Lucknow battle honours? The item shown is in quite poor condition and some parts of the colour are missing but enough survives to show the complete design, I think. What do you think?

Excellent work on the von Rattsky Hussar Ivo.
Looking forward to seeing this one progress.
Your posting of the uniform details was most timely for me, as I've just managed to get hold of an original Post Militaire version:-
