As the WWI seems to be a popular subject and with Steven Spilbergs film War Horse due out next year I thought I'd mention this book just out . I read about it in my Local paper .

It could make for some great new kits , but from what I've read on the review you'll all need your hankies close by.

Re: War Horse The Book

Yeah, everyone's talking about it on my horse forums. I'm going pass on the tear jerker tho. Watching the movie about Ruffian nearly killed me.

Now, if some kits come out - that will be a different story. ;)

Cheers,
Karrie

Re: War Horses The Book

I'm not sure but from the replies you all seem to be confussing this book with the novel War Horse written by Michael Morpurgo's in 1982 and then later turned into a very succesful stage play and as I mentioned a film by Steven Spielberg to be released at the end of this year 28th Dec 2011.
This book War Horses by Simon Butler is a factual book with many photos telling the true account of the toil these animals suffered .
Gordy here's a link to the Spielberg Film .

The film was made down here in my part of the UK. The beatiful West Country , Dartmoor was one lacation and a village called Castle Combe was an other place used , Castle Combe was also used in Dr.Dolittle so it will be intresting to see how different it looks .

Two examples of some sobering figures...

In the Charge of the Light Brigade -475 Horses Killed

Boer War totals (Horses, Mules & Donkeys) 400,346 Killed

That's enough to bring a tear to the most hardened cavalryman. :(
