Melanie, Kim & Malc, thank you all I am rather pleased with how this is turning out. Not an entirely new technique to me but one I haven't until now explored very much.

Kim, I'm pleased my ramblings are helpful for you. I probably not the best at explaining things coherently, I put that down to my Yorkshire(ness).

Cheers Simon

What do I think? He's looking really good, a very impressive figure and you are really bringing that uniform to life.

I don't know about anyone else but I always feel a sense of anti climax when I finish a figure. Yes I have enjoyed it and pleased it has turned out rather well, but still it's a bit of a let down.

Anyway more pictures over on the completed board in a mo.

Cheers Simon

I know how you feel, as sometimes I react in the same way.
In this case I think you've produced another fine piece of work, and I look forward to
seeing it at the North Surrey show. ......... provided it doesn't snow.

Malc

Hi Simon,
I know exactly what you mean, you put heart and soul into making that figure. Then it is completed and you are left feeling a little forlorn. as a change of subject I am working on six figures which before too long I will be displaying some works in progress.

Malkie

Simon,
Just about to go over to the 'completed' section now, but as for your feelings of finishing it..............there's a great guy over here on this, and many other 'followings', who has a way with words and is a truly 'biblical' encourager [Barnabas] to us 'newbies', he's called Briggsy and this is what he said recently........'I'm looking forward to finishing him as well, I really don't like painting green too much.' So, thanks for all you have done here and we really look forward to your next 'event', whatever it may be. Remember what Briggsy also says, '..........the main thing is to enjoy it!'. Q.E.D.
Really looking forward to meeting you one day!
Kim

...it's a bit of a let down...
That just means you need to get cracking on the next one, Simon!

This is another great piece to add to collection. I can sympathize with the feelings at the end of a project, but now you can help keep your chin up by looking at this one in your cabinet. Maybe literally, if you put him on a high shelf. 😉
Have to have a look now over in the finished works forum....
Prost!
Brad

Kev, Malc and Malkie, cheers gents.

Kev I really don't want to know about your anti climaxing, sounds rather frustrating, maybe see a doctor about that!

Malc, it's not the snow that bothers me it's getting my hip op that might keep me house bound as the rest of the buggers don't drive anymore!

Malkie, get to work on those projects I want to see some results, not that I'm pressuring you of course but hey I'm starting to get as old as old people these days!

Cheers Simon

Well I've been told, cheers Kim. Thing is when everything is going well finishing a project just means hard work on the next one till it all starts going right again, HOPEFULLY.

It is all enjoyable just some parts are more fun than others but the best part is taking on the challenges. Which considering I'm a contrary fella who wants to do something different means they keep cropping up so my grumblings really are not complaints.
That said as an ex soldier, and we all know soldiers aren't happy unless they're grumbling, the die is cast!

Anyway many thanks for your support and I am so pleased that my explanations are helpful, at least there is some good from the old dog yet!!!

Cheers Simon

Many thanks Brad and yes I'm already working on two projects with the next foot figure about to start. I haven't been able to work for the last ten years or so, chronic pain is a real show stopper. So I have more time than most at the bench, I need something to stay sane(ish).

My cabinet, or one of them has been taken over, luckily I keep the doors closed!

And yes she slept there for a few hours, still she's a sweetheart so I don't mind. Better than her settling on my shoulder and suckling at my shirt and leaving a soggy patch!

Cheers Simon

Coming in late, but the figure looks absolutely fabulous, and I totally agree regarding the feelings when finished. Nice job Simon!

Regards,
Phil

Cheers Phil, I'm pleased you like him and that I'm not the only one who gets despondent at the conclusion of a project.

Cheers Simon
