Who would be your favorite sculptor?

Hi Guys,
I was wondering, who is your favorite sculptor of commercially released figures? Or, to put it another way, when you buy new figures is there any sculptor that you follow or tend to favor over others? Mine would be Brian Stewart, his stuff for Jaguar and Warriors is fantastic, with great detail. On a related note, does anyone know if he is still in the business? It's been awhile since I saw any work from him.

I suppose my 2 favorite sculpters would be Mike Good and Roger Saunders and I see their work as an example for what I would like to achieve. That being said there are a great number of very talented sculpters out there who's work I aspire to, including right here on PF.

I most agree with them. For me, and it is a short time, i have enjoyed the figure's done by mr Latorre.

It's too easy to list four or five, so if I had to pick only one, it would be Latorre.

As far as commercial release sculptors specifically, My favorites are probably Raul Latorre, Bruno Leibovitz, and Mike Good. Fast becoming part of the list are Mauritzio Bruno and Victor Konnov.

I don't always know the sculptors of the figures I buy, but of those I do know, I like Ray Lamb, Julian Hulis, and Le Van Quang. I like the work of Augie Rodriguez, but alas, I don't have any of his work. I admire the work of Raul Latorre and Bill Horan too, but they don't, to my knowledge, do figures in my area of interest.

Hey Guys,

There are so many and I do have to say the likes of Bill Horans, Mike Good and Latorres are great but the one commercial sculptor who I have purchased all of his, which the list is much to short, is that of Derek Hansen. I really admire his work as far as commercial kits.

BTW I have about all of Bill's and a quite a few of Raul's and just pick up an older one of Mike's.

My favourite is Joaquin Palacio especially for the big sizes 180mm. Many others (which are already quoted) are very good also, but Joaquin remains my preferred.

I have to say that Roger Saunders hooked me back in to the hobby after my 20 year lay off. Hell of a difference from the old Tamiya stuff circa 1980.

I did not see Gianni LaRocca mentioned. One of my faves...

So many, so much talent...let's see Mike Good's busts, John Rosengrant's busts and large scale figures, Raul Latorre's dimunitive 54's, Bruno Leibovitz's stocky corn-fed Napoleonics, Le Van Quang, the who sculped those amazing paratroopers for Mike Stelzel, Mike Stelzel, Keith Durham, Steve Warrilow, Richard Almond, Mike Blank, Stefano Cannone, Paul Clark, Pat Bird and on and on

Thanks for the response guys. There are alot of great sculptors out there, and you've brought some ones I haven't heard of to my attention. I've been looking at some Latorre and Rosengrant figures, but they might have to wait until I finish some of my current projects.

One of my favorites like Johns is Mike Stelzel. Great subject matter and always clean smooth sculpting. One of the greatest.
