I've been there too...
This is my old dog Karma, a Black Lab/Malamute mix. One morning, well into her 16th year, while we had our morning coffee in the back yard she took a severe stroke. We had to put the old girl down that day. That was four years ago this August. She is sorely missed....

It took about a year before we finally broke down and replaced Karma the dog... with Shooter the cat. Since then, we are convinced that Karma is actually reincarnated in Shooter... Many of Shooter's picadillos were also Karma's picadillo's. It can be a little creepy sometimes.

A black Lab, and a Malamute.? that's one hell of a mix? I am familiar with both breeds! I worked a Malamute, called 'Gunner', and numerous black labs! In my days as a 'Guide-Dog' trainer. (24yrs)), But never the mix. .. That would have been a really cool and steady cross to develop.
Please believe me when I say, I know what it feels to lose a canine friend, a little once too often! .. it's gutting, to say the least.

Hi Guys this is one of our cats Ozzy he has just seen one of our latest kits LOL 
we have another cat called Bobby and another dog a staffy cross called Jake. so in all we have 2 Dogs 2 cats and a pond full of Koi it's like a zoo.

You're absolutely right Mark... She was a beauty! Very energetic, friendly to a fault (except with other dogs) and strong as a bull... You can see how thick she was through the neck, shoulders and chest... That dog could pull tree stumps if you harnessed her up. She played nurse and protector to the family... She could tell if one of us was sick or hurt and would stand on over watch until SHE was satisfied that all was well. Like I said, she was a beauty! Right up to her last day she still believed she was a 90lb puppy or lapdog... Try having that crawl up in your lap... Especially during thunderstorms... She was scared shitless of thunder lol
It is a unique breed combo but from my experience with karma and her siblings, more breeders should develops it.
Shooter has many of Karma's traits except the cat is completely bonkers!!! A full on tomcat scrapper.

Dumb, looks mostly' Collie', Dumber definitely has 'Springer Spaniel', in the, 'Blood-Line',
Lovely dogs! .. Although I expect they are both highly intelligent and equally devious!

The pretty one is half Siberian husky and half border collie. A cat in dog's body and smarter than anyone else in the family. We think the black one is Aussie Shepherd and border collie with some lab perhaps. We were his fourth house in his first six months. He hates strangers but is a total luv with the family. If thundering, he can be found in the only bathroom without windows...in the tub.
They both get on relatively well with our five grey tabbies. Its a bitch keeping cat hair out of my oil paints as they dry.

In my original post I said puppies just do not lie contentedly at your feet while you paint like an old dog does,....well I just may have a keeper.

Here is my furry helper, Sophie. Her hobbies include getting hair everywhere, sleeping, and sometimes chasing mice. I had just primed the occasional Maschinen Krieger suit and set it on the kitchen table. When I turned around, there she was making sure the wet primer had a nice layer of hair for me................
