Kyle, you must have a very understanding wife.:D She lets you use the living room for a work area? My wife would kill me if I painted figures in the living room. I'm confined to the basement, and my work bench is such a mess, I dare not post photos.:(

Cheers

Here´s my old work-table.

And one of the old display cabinets.

Moving into a smaller, colder house in the middle of a forest a few months ago has me now struggling to make somewhere where I can build, sculpt and paint to my own satisfaction. Must curtail surfing model forums as a surrogate and get things sorted out before it gets too ccccold.

Spike.

Thanks for posting the pictures Spike. I remember the days when I had to have a kerosene heater in my work area and had to be careful my paints didn't freeze (enamels). Take the time to get things sorted out. We aren't going anywhere.

I remember once buying a storage shed.......having it wired and connected to the house........insulating the shed and then paneling the walls. I still miss that small building. It was cozy. I painted many a figure in that shed.

My "Fortress of Solitude"

I love this thread. Before my sons were born, I had a spare bedroom to myself and filled it to the brim with all my accumulated modelling crap:D :D . For most of the past decade, I've been confined to painting at the dining room table (with appropriate mood lighting):( :( .

Now we are in a new 4BR house. Officially my hobby room is the "spare bedroom" which is supposed to be for visitors; imy wife calls it my "fortress of solitude", and I have moved what's left of my crap in there. I'm still using the same dining room table but after an accident with a bottle of super glue:eek: , I was told I had to buy a new one and I was allowed to keep the old one. Most of the grey army are hiding in the chest of drawers.

The display cabinet includes some of my favourite (finished) models, along with my family's service medals, my medals and dogtags, my grandfathers' swagger stick, a photo of my Dad at Nui Dat in Vietnam in 1968, my great uncle's photo and death plaque from WW1 and a few trophies I've picked up from local modelling comps.

The most important item in the hobby room is the CD player. No music-no modelling. Plenty of ACDC, SRV and Van Halen to keep me going.

Cheers

That looks great Guy,
I didn't know that you redecorate the room.
I wonder, how many figure's did you paint???

Marc

Thanks Marc,

In the 30+ years I have painted close to 1500 figures or more. In the cases now are about 350 to 375 figures. At most of the shows I used to attend there were always figures sold to collectors. Now that I can't attend as many shows I still have 3 steady collectors that keep me busy. Sometimes too busy as there are so many figures I want to paint for myself, but he sale of figures help support this now expensive hobby.

I spent my evening of yesterday to watch this thread
What a marvellous idea. A lot of them are so impressive, and it's really interresting to see the area of work of many of you.
So ... Why not me ? :p

- A part of my books (since 20 years !)

- the wallpaper made by Ron Volstad ;)
- and me ...

Bonjour de France.

Seb.
