I don't much mind the artificial light, I used to use daylight simulation bulbs but with shop closures over the pandemic I don't know where to get them any more and I don't trust the postal system to get something that delicate to me in working order. Must be frustrating though when you have the time but the weather is horrible.

Cheers Simon

I got daylight bulbs from Amazon,to say they were well packed is an understatement, the parcel was the size of an MFO box! :D
Scotty.

More shading this morning, of the sack coat which I hope has enough now.
Camera on this won't show it anything like adequately, though. So you'll have to take my word for it...
Plan to shade the musket and do the hands' interfaces tomorrow. Light and temperature in the conservatory make it challenging.
Just had a look at the Historex website: a pale shadow of its former self. Selection looks like the second-hand cash sale baskets at model shows. I guess elevated import costs here are a factor? That and generally strapped markets?
It's a challenge to know where to look nowadays.

I think that's all the shading done now.
Next up are highlights, after Christmas.
Heading out into the hurricane to get some fast-moving fresh air and stretch me poor old back for a couple of hours next.

Dreamt I was back in Gettysburg last night.

...

Just bought Bruce Catton's three volume set "The Army of the Potomac", and "Turned Inside-Out" by Fank Wilkeson - all second-hand, from World of Books.
To go with the Christmas beers.

Hurrah for the Union!

That's gonna take a lot of beers to read all them books, damned good idea.

Cheers Simon
Absolutely
Although the Law of Diminishing Returns operates in those circumstances:
First beer - all well and good
Second beer - stay focused
Third beer - turn the TV on and read some more tomorrow

Sounds about right, beer the killer of good intentions, or to quote Homer Simpson 'Alcohol the cause of and solution to all our problems'

Cheers Simon
