What your living in W Yorkshire now, good move I'd say unless you're in Bradford which is a dump. Not seen the final score but a good day for the Tigers?

Cheers Simon

They beat Sarries - which always feels good.
Our (work) head office is in Bradford. What I see of the town doesn't look great.
To be honest, whilst it's a nice county, with two national parks close by, I have moved once too often and would go back south if circumstances were different.
C'est la vie.
How is Hants? I once had an interview with the local authority there and the people who were running the dept in question were a nice bunch.

Yeah anyone beating saracens is good. Bradford was a large textile city with lots of immigrant labour dating back to the early 1900s but that industry died in the 80's leaving a lot of unemployment. The rural parts of Yorkshire though are beautiful, other cities like Leeds and York are nice though, I was brought up right on the outskirts surrounded by farm land so happily call myself a country lad.

I married a Hampshire lass I met when posted to Aldershot in the mid 80's, I finished my time in 2 Para in the 90's so stayed local. We did look at moving to Bradford but I'm so glad we didn't, only got my brother up there now. People are different down here, say "good morning" to a stranger and they look at you as if you're a serial killer. Rural Hampshire is nice and there is a lot of it but we are in the commuter belt for London and house prices are utterly ridiculous. Hate London with a passion, well anywhere that built up to be fair, but we've lived in this house now longer than either of us have lived anywhere else so we're staying put. Plus rather a lot of ex forces here and about because of Aldershot so plenty of folk I understand.

It's not bad I suppose but I see it as home is where the family are, I had one born in Cyprus, Middle one in North Yorkshire and the youngest local so we're a mixed bunch really. If we ever get the money the boss wants to move to Cornwall which would be nice, but I can't see it ever happening. So now life is just marking time till the inevitable and hoping my kids all lead happy lives, which they seem to be so far.

I can identify with all of that. Life and big & small decisions put us in a place, after which we make the most of things.
Cornwall is a nice area - also quite dear, but where isn't?
I've seen more of it from the boat to the Isles of Scilly than actually on the ground, though.

More highlighting. With thaw breaks indoors.
And a lecture about post-Appomattox surrender civil war experiences on poo-tube.

Can't be much more to do on this fella? He's looking good, just need to get to spring and some warm weather.

Never been to Scilly, my wife's family on her mother's side are Cornish and my mothers side had family down there, we actually met on a beach down there. Just lucky we lived so close together the rest of the time.

Glutton for punishment David, he can't be far off completion now though. How many more are doing?

Tidying the highlights, then some shading repairs to do.
Should be done by end of Jan.
Finding the time to paint is the hard part.

very nice, the figures and brandy. You want snow for hiking in, that's just not fair these days I can't get much further than the car park, I'd love to get out in the hills, the Dales, Lake District, Wales or Scotland, alas those days are gone, now adays I'm paying for a reckless youth when running up Snowden for something to do was a good idea. Can't complain (no one would listen anyway) at least I can still paint.

Cheers Simon
