After a period of very constructive talking with the pretty well known , and even more talented sculptor and company owner Ulrich Puchala, we decided to cooperate on a long term basis . Being a fan of his work for many years i consider this luck and honor to cooperate with him . Beeing fair i must thank here Dan Morton for his idea.

This cooperation means that i will paint all of his creations one by one .

Themes that are released by UP-Miniatures are really unique and focused so i thought that it might would be really interesting for many folks to watch over this procedure .

So i will present each bust here as a seperate SBS style article hopig that some friend will be interesetd to follow .

I will start this series with Mata Hari bust , as this was the one that attracted me at once !!

Here at first i present the bust primed and ready for start painting . Tha casting by YS Masterpieces is superb and ready for painting .

The right hand is just attached for the picture but it would be good for anyone painting this beautiful subject not to glue it in advance but after painting the part of the bust that is partially hidden when the right arm is attached. This will help the painted , and especially the inexperienced to paint more easily .

Great and interesting subject matter - I see that UP-Miniaturen use the Maltese cross as their general standard support for all their busts, however in this case it's a little misplaced,I feel - firstly she Mata Hari was never a German spy and was not conclusively proven to be a spy for Imperial Germany at all, and secondly - in fact the original charges were and are believed to be very trumped up and she was in fact a scape goat for French officialdom, loosely put. Just MHO.

Mata Hari Bust

What a beautifully sculpted bust of the famous Feme fatale Mata Hari.

I think this is one of the loveliest bust of a female I've seen on PF.

I am sure The Major will do a beautiful job on this most exciting figure bust,

The Miami Jayhawk

Costas , congratulations and looking forward to following this and more of Ulrich's master pieces being painted . (y)

Cheers Ken

All the best mate

Hi Costas
very nice bust,
I have a a comprehension question. To my knowledge is outlining unusual, especially by busts and figures off 54mm. However Outlining to provide an opportunity to improve the contrast and to accentuate on figures below 54mm. Above and in larger scale, Outlining will more disturb as enhance the contrasts.
Have I misunderstood this or is this a vulgar error? I would be happy when I became enlightenment from you. Thanks.

This and the others in the range are going to make a very interesting set of SBS ...what a good team , Ulrich's sculpting and your painting Costas.

Looking forward to SBS especially the fleshwork details and how you treat the clothing she is wearing .
