    Brushes, Workbenches, Paints...How about Uniforms?

Many a question has been asked about lights, magnifiers, brushes, paints....What do you wear when at your workbench? A tuxedo, I think not.....good pants and shirt, nah.....the good pants you spilled paint on last year or had your epoxy putty ruin, now we are talking. Must be some good stories...

    Scam or not

In the USA the latest is an email as a survey about your latest vaccination that specifically asks “ How was your reaction or reactions to your Pfizer vaccination?” Then they offer a number of items to choose from and you only need to pay for shipping. I explored the offers which looked...

MMSI - Military Miniature Society of Illinois Meetings

Just attended the monthly MMSI http://www.military-miniature-society-of-illinois.com/ on-line meeting which is handled via Zoom. Tonight they had a discussion about boxed dioramas and referred to a sister web site that may not be well known so I thought I would pass it along...

    Wife doesn't like my music...

You cannot beat the pioneering album Kind of Blue. Been into Jazz, not the smooth stuff, since the 60's along with some other genre's that is very eclectic. These days my leanings are toward piano jazz with Michel Petrucciani being my fav.

    Thoughts on 3D printed figures

It reminds me of the banks and investment houses asking us to go paperless. It is transferring costs to the recipient (printer, ink, paper, resin). One advantage I have seen is the use of a design program and 3D printer to fabricate replacement parts for a rehab of old toy cars where...

    Alternative for Glue ?

There are a number of terms that sometimes get used interchangeably. Cementing, welding, soldering, adhesive, gluing, and luting all have technical definitions. The light cured material dentists use is a resin. The term "cement" is misleading. In the past, dentists "cemented" crowns onto a tooth...

    Small tubes of oil paint

Just a suggestion: Buy some empty tubes for oil paint or even smaller for medical ointments. Split the cost of the oil paint you want with 3-4 painter friends and divide the paint into the empty tubes.

    Drilling metal figures

Both resin and the lead based metal used to cast figures have the same problem when you try to drill.....both melt and grab the drill because the material re-hardens. That is why the faster speed of the Dremel poses a tough requirement for a proper lubricant. So drilling my hand is safer but...

    Foam for sculpting bases

I found that both Home Depot and Lowe's has a box of squares of this insulation near the full size sheets. Maybe 3 foot x 3 foot.

    Has anyone ever used?

Ha Ha Ha. Hey Wayne, If you are just lounging around in your "tighty whities" use of the "slot" will prevent you from stretching out the leg openings and prevent the "boys" from lounging around. Come the winter with tighties and thermals, along with some heavy slacks AND the Seinfield...
