Thanks for the compliments, but I'm not nearly as good as either Gael or Tom. They are the masters. Anyway, now I understand the difference in finish. It was a bit puzzling. Magic sculp is quite good for 28 miniatures by the way. Slightly different technique but the same quality of miniatures...

Hi, excellent sculpt and as the others say great character in this figure. Good choice of pose and facial expression. Weapons are very nice as are the clothing details. Finish is a bit rough though. I don't know what putty was used for this but perhaps you should also try kneadatite/green...

I think that whenever you find a figure of which you're sure they are recasts you should in all cases let the original producer know. At the same time you can go around to other forums to warn people about this. Criminals don't like it when they get too much attention and not everybody can spot...

Also Fortress figures inc. does a lot of resin casting (not that much the figures you see on the site, that's just a side job, but what they do for other clients).

The only criticism I would have on the statue examples shown is that the fabric seems to be a very light one (probably mouseline) and has for that reason sharper and more creases than daily use fabrics. So they may not be good as direct reference. Still, they are good to as example of drapery...

Using statues as examples? Interesting idea but I think arranging for the copyrights ma be difficult. I believe most museums retain the publicity right on photographs of items from their collection. Just an idea, what we can do is create a reference thread here with links to interesting statues...
