    New sculpting putty: pro-create

Hi, I've been testing a new putty over the last months and since I saw it's being discussed now I thought I'd let you know too. Pro-create is made in the US and has been developed with the help of 28mm miniature sculptors. Samples have been send to several sculptors worldwide, many of them...

    Cthulhu

Hi, it looks great. Do you have any plans for full body sculpts of Cthulhu figures? By the way, frothers united uk has a miniature (i.e. 28mm) sculpting competition going on which is somewhat related to Cthulhu. Details are over here if you are interested. Bye, Ming-Hua

    28mm Wargame Figures

Thanks for the compliments, but I'm not nearly as good as either Gael or Tom. They are the masters. Anyway, now I understand the difference in finish. It was a bit puzzling. Magic sculp is quite good for 28 miniatures by the way. Slightly different technique but the same quality of miniatures...

    28mm Wargame Figures

Hi, excellent sculpt and as the others say great character in this figure. Good choice of pose and facial expression. Weapons are very nice as are the clothing details. Finish is a bit rough though. I don't know what putty was used for this but perhaps you should also try kneadatite/green...

A scale mail in larger scales

I work in 30mm and to me it's kidn of hard to imagine what chain should look like in 1/9 scale. Do you know if there is an example of 1/9 chainmail somewhere in the net? The tool I mentioned in the first thread is a tube cut to a C with a thinner rod in the middel. So the "ring" is pressed...

    In at the deep end

    >There is still one question, why do people use vaseline or handcream as a smoothing agent? This one has eluded me so far in my searches. The basic function of these is to keep putty from sticking to you tools so you can pull it over the putty without the surface getting pulled away. You can...

    Piotr Czyz's Rivit tutorial

Interesting way of doing rivets. I know something similar is done with plastic rod but this is the first time I see it with solder. Great idea. Thanks for posting it (and the other links). This is how I do it by the way: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/minimaker3/d...d49.jpg&.src=ph I've made...

    Illegal Copies of figures ...

I think that whenever you find a figure of which you're sure they are recasts you should in all cases let the original producer know. At the same time you can go around to other forums to warn people about this. Criminals don't like it when they get too much attention and not everybody can spot...

    Copyright on the net

Hehe, I was wondering when those guys would try to get a share of the action. :) Curious to see how it works out. Nice talking to you too PJ. Bye, Ming-Hua

    Copyright on the net

Hi PJ, I agree. I also highly recommend adding the copyright signature to photos and articles you write. Oh, and to your sculpts as well of course. As I said, it helps in court and reminds interested parties of it. The bad thing is that a lot of people seem to think that not having the label...

    Pirate figure

Hi, I just saw a pirate in green stuff that is so cool I thought you might be interested to see: Pirate pic The article is over her. Before you read it, take a guess what size that figure is. :) http://theminiaturespage.com/news/55358/ Bye, Ming-Hua

    Copyright on the net

Hi PJ, your advice on using the notice is good but I hope you don't mind me using your mail to point out a few common misunderstandings on copyrights in general and on internet in specific. Most of them are actually discussed in the article I pointed out but just in case I've just done a checkup...

    Copyright on the net

Hi, Since there are people here who publish articles on internet I thought it would be an good idea if I'd post this here too. Over at the cool mini or not site members have discovered that CMON articles were used in an ebook which is sold on Ebay without getting permission from the authors...

Which the best books step-by-step ?

Hi, what's exactly in "Sculpting and body language" By Mike Blank? I don't know that book yet and am wondering how much there is on body language. As to sculpting reference info, I've put a lot of book titles and links over here: minivault forum Bye, Ming-Hua

    Resin Casting Services

Also Fortress figures inc. does a lot of resin casting (not that much the figures you see on the site, that's just a side job, but what they do for other clients).

    New drapery reference book query

The only criticism I would have on the statue examples shown is that the fabric seems to be a very light one (probably mouseline) and has for that reason sharper and more creases than daily use fabrics. So they may not be good as direct reference. Still, they are good to as example of drapery...

    New drapery reference book query

Using statues as examples? Interesting idea but I think arranging for the copyrights ma be difficult. I believe most museums retain the publicity right on photographs of items from their collection. Just an idea, what we can do is create a reference thread here with links to interesting statues...

    New drapery reference book query

Ok, that's clear though the main difference with the main book is the presentation. This is kind off the schoolboard method that you seen more in books of that period. Now something in this format (as opposed to a whole) book could be a nice addition to the photo book. I'll post it as a...
