Hi Dave, looking good mate. Did you sort out some finer mesh for the engine grills ?
Love the little touches such as padlock etc. Nice work.

Cheers

Ron

Steve, thanks for your comments.

Ron,thanks for dropping in, I have yet to find the finer mesh so still working on it!!

Carl, fiddly work them padlocks at 1/16 let alone 1/35!!!!!!!

I'm going to spend alot of time finishing off now with lots of cleaning in preperation for priming and adding any additions that will enhance the look.

I appreciate all your support.

Dave(y)

Wow Dave, you are on a roll. This is becoming better and better. When do you stop adding details!? It seems addictive.....

I'll be following!

Hi Adrian

Firstly Thank you to all, for your comments.

The detail is the most exciting part for me! I hate the hum drum of removing sanding, repairing etc but love doing all the little fiddly stuff that brings it alive.

I'm still studying other area's of the thius particular Tiger and have some other stuff to still do.

The most challenging is the travel lock.....hand made chain anyone!!!!!!!!

Enjoy your Sunday

Dave

The finishing line for the Tiger draws ever more closer.

I have added the final detail to the vent (waterproof caps & weld line) plus the cupola which is now fixed.

Now then I have a bit of a dilema!! I enquired about a diorama base at 550mm x 450mm in mahogany which came bac as £95 + £15 delivery:eek:

The Tiger is heavy due to the metal tracks and wheels but will be screwed to the base, but the base needs to be sturdy so does anyone have any suggestions as a cheaper alternative?

Hi Dave, I had a similar dilemma a while back and my solution was to buy a suitable size picture frame in a pound type shop. This provides the edging. Then dispose of the glass and 'fill' the aperture with a solid piece of MDF. All in it cost me £8 for a base with moulded edges 550mm x 800mm. Hope that helps mate. Nice work on the vent and cupola. keep it coming.

Cheers

Ron

DAve,
Just dropping in for the first time. I'm done with AFV. Read this treat and you are doing some outstanding modelling.
Some disappointing: I see no interior......:lol:
Years ago there whas a guy on Missinglynx who modelled an acurate interior of the Tiger into it. I hope you where going to do that to.

Great work.

Hi Dave,
Why don't you search for a hardwood chopping board/butchers block! This might give you a good cheap alternative. I will ask the brother-in-law I am sure he had a massive piece of oak.
cheers

Hey guys thank you for your help and suggestions.

Ron, I do not mind the frame and MDF method on smaller stuff but this is so heavy I feel I need something solid, but many thanks for your suggestion.

Marc, I think I would end up jumping off a cliff trying to model the interior aswell:D I've clocked about 120 hours now on the exterior, I would need at least that to even get anywhere near the level rqd, but thank you for your kind words.

I will paint the inside of the cupola black and by the time the figure is sat in there, it will not be noticeable! if push comes to shove then I have enough room for some preiscopes.

Richie, that sounds like a great idea, just not sure I could get a chopping board big enough lol, let me know about your brothers oak mate.

Carl is currently trying to help so all your support is appreciated.

Hi Dave, I've just had an email from Carl mentioning your are in need of a base for this project . First thing with todays Kiln dried timbers it would be virtually impossible to find a solid piece this size and if you did it would only warp and split in todays central heated housing , only several pieces glued togerether making up the size would possible . What I would recommend would be a veneered ply or MDF board in mahogany or oak with a moulding from the same type of wood to give the effect of surround moulding your are after . It's a pity that I have only just finished a job up near you last week or we could have met up and discussed this in more depth . I've sent you PM

Hi Dave,
Sorry mate, the piece of dressed oak he had was 570mm by 150mm by 50mm. He still may be able to get one I will check, but it may be rough cut. He had some rough cut aswell but not the width. I won't keep you hanging around if I can't get a piece, I will let you know a.s.a.p.
cheers

Hi Dave,
I contacted some one on ebay, to have a solid oak style butchers block made to your measurements of 550mm by 450mm by 38mm thick would cost 41.99 inclusive of postage. Hope this helps.
cheers
Richie
