Excellent work, that looks amazing. I think you nailed the finish on his overalls beautifully and the face looks fantastic. This will look really impressive when done....

Thank you for your comments, this means a lot to me.

Im currently in to figure no2 so hope to have some more pics shortly.

Current state of play is the top half except for the face and magazine drum is done. I’ll put the drum on last to make it easier to paint the face.

I decided on oak leaf autumn for the top and I’m doing peadot 44 spring for the trousers. This was a bit difficult because the detail underneath was difficult to get to, even getting a brush in to do the insignia was tough, but it’s turned out ok. He needs a coat of Matt varnish with some spots to tidy. The base coat ranged from an almost deep chocolate brown to a faded brown/grey so I went inbetween.

Face will once again be done in oils, the rest is acrylic layers. There are areas that are pointless investing time in to because you simply cannot make out the shadows and highlights due to it being only just seen.

Oh really really good, I see what you mean about getting to the insignia, the camouflage contrast between the schemes will be good.

Cheers Simon

Thanks Simon. I’ve given the whole camo a really fine dusting to take some Sheen away and to knock the vibrancy down…it’s turned out nice.

Making some nice progress with this one Dave, like the weathering on the Bike.
Cheers
Steve

Thanks Steve, I’m looking forward to seeing this figure off, it’s been quite difficult to paint. The bike needs final touches of more weathering and washes but I’ll do that at the very end.

Thanks for your continued interest and support for this build.

Ive put down my acrylic base for oils on the face, so will paint today now the camo is done. I have given the whole camo a more worn/dirty/faded look to represent the climate and how old the kit would be in late 44. Pea dot 44 for the trousers with weathering on the boots and knee’s.
Not much attention has been paid to the lower portion of the left leg as it’s way out of sight.

Once the face is done I’ll attach the magazine drum and finish the fixing of the MG mount and fix in to position.
