Hi Dave

One word on this build .....BRILLIANT

Great updates

Ref nameplate, I would go for one all along the front ......you could always get original pictures for the smaller sides

Looking forward to seeing more

Enjoy the uniform planning

Happy benchtime

I did not do the track tyres because it’s meant to be rock hard ground melted then frozen snow, I could add with the spare tyre but I’ll think about it, the model lifts off so it’s still doable, just the two small areas at the two rear tyres……..it’s such a small bit, I’m not overly fussed but will consider.

Yes it's not as necessary as with a tank or other such heavy weight vehicle and it's such a small detail as you say. Either way it's still a superb vignette even before it's finished.

Cheers Simon

I’m going to try and do two small but subtle tracks at the back just to give a hint 0f weight. Otherwise it’s defo break time and will start again on Friday.

All your critique, words of encouragement and general interest has been warmly received.

Thanks
Dave

Ok I got all my pre shading done this afternoon…..black primer, followed by mists coats of neutral grey and a final mist coat of light grey. I’ll probably do the rider Krad in oils (it’s got a rubberised finish) with acrylics on the boots, gloves and lid….i prefer doing faces in oils but will do all the other clothing for the camo in acrylics. Like the bike, careful planning of the painting needs to be considered.

I usually start with faces, but then it means more patience in drying time. I spent a lot of time cleaning these up but they have turned out great. When Jeff gets things right, his skill in sculpting is outstanding imo.

It’s taken 7 days of patient painting but all that’s left to do is the face and I’ve left that until last because I prefer blending oils for my flesh.

I use crystal clear epoxy resin for the goggles and search light using the method of painting the underneath and then spreading the epoxy out into the frames….its a bit squeaky bum as it has limited working time but it works very well once done.

Pics of the figure under proper lighting, I’ll start the face tomorrow and will finish the weathering once he is on the bike:-

Ill give the overcoat a shot of satin varnish as it’s a rubberised look.

This is looking really good, can't wait to see those figures on the bike.

I like your method for goggles. I tend to use Kristal Klear for glass, it's self levelling and gives you a bit more working time. Have you tried that?
