Doing my cuirassier bust rekindled my interest in this old project. I stripped Ney and his ADC but here is the first of the cuirassiers about half done.

Good Work Colin,
I am always amazed at the detail the casters get on these little figures and even more amazed at people who can manage to paint them to this standard.
Looking very well.
Having spent a great day at the Musee de l'Armee yesterday I am really buzzing with Napoleonics.
Cheers,
Keith

Keith - I was at the Musee de l'Armee in the 80's a recall it fondly. Your buzz is very understandable. Any new Napoleonic projects on the go?

Colin

Following this thread - love Waterloo dioramas and this one is promising to be good. Hope to get there someday.
The Perry miniatures are great - had to recently get some of their Wars of the Roses plastic sets, couldn't resist and the detail and options in box are fantastic.
Cheers

Hi Colin,
It is a real good place to be and only being 4.5 hours drive from my home, with so many other places for Napoleonica, I am a lucky Boy.The only difficulty is that you cannot use a flash with your camera.
In terms of projects Napoleonic; I have semi sculpt of a 200mm British Officer and Drummer at Albuera 1811 that is on and off of the shelf like a fiddlers elbow. And some 120mm kits from Mini Art (East European) Cuirassier and a Dragoon. They are a bit 'wooden looking' but I think that they will make a reasonable conversion.
Keep up the good work Mate.
All the very best,
Keith

Colin, Love seeing your work. Amazing how much detail you can get on such a small scale. I love the Napoleonic period and am especially interested in Waterloo. Will continue to follow your in progress Ney and Cuirassier vignette!

Thanks gents. Maybe I can see this through this time without shelving it for a couple of years again.

Terry - nice to hear from you, reminds me me of those good old days on MMHQ and HMF :)

Cheers

when i was about 12 years old, airfix released the waterloo highlanders in 1/76th scale, which i painted, 4 boxes to form a square. using cheap brushes and no magnifying visor, and i thought they were great. but not a touch on your 28mm scale figures. i have been to wargames events in kirriemuir and when you see an army of figures on the table, you cant help admire the patience and skill and time/commitment that it takes. i like your painted figures. well done/badger

Thanks Badger although these aren't painted for wargame purpose....I don't have that much patience. The idea is to paint these to the best of my ability for a small diorama. Similar to those great pieces our friends Lasalle and Oniria do.

Colin

yes,i dont have the patience to paint wargames armies either, but i like the idea of a small diorama/badger

I don't know what to add great work I admire you painting at such a small scale

I used to have a painting service for wargamers at a local shop (Crossed Swords in Toronto) and it is very hard to keep up the drive to paint large armies. When somebody brought me a unit of 25-50 figs at 28mm or even 15mm, it wasn't so bad... but when they brought in, say, 500 15mm figs and wanted them done up in a couple of weeks for a big tourny... BRUTAL!!!!!!!!!!
The worst was a guy that want 500 ACW infantry, 15mm, in a mix of grey and butternut... By the end of the job I wanted to stick the ends of my 000 brushes into my eyes, grab a tin cup of pencils, sit on the corner and probably make more money than I did on that job.
With the figs available, the potential for some interesting dioramas is great... makes you say "Hmmmmm" :sneaky:

Look forward to this one fleshing out

Colin
