Two other painters have done this figure and are way above my standard, so here is my one. I have used the reference by CE Franklin on facings and lace of the British Napoleonic army. There is a colour plate of the drummers jacket 1810-15 on which there are no sleeve chevrons. My figure depicts this uniform.

So the head is complete and some one said the left eye is smaller than the right. I used that to my advantage and gave him a black eye (the figure not the sculptor). The face is complete and the shako has been dotted with blacks and shades of grey.
This is where I am so far. Hope you like him.

Looking good so far Bob. Good idea with the black eye and it looks convincing. The young whippersnapper is obviously a slow learner and needed some corrective training.

Thank you Roger. Glad you like him. If I can get the yellow right he will look okay. Appreciate your kind words.
Regards

Good luck with this Our Bob, it's a toughy but it will end up a beaut.

Paul.

Looking good so far Bob - love the black eye and the yellow jacket. Should look spectacular when he's all done

Cheers
Paul

Thanks for the support, I have the C/Sgt waiting in line and the drummer will go with him.
Thanks for the comments , much appreciated.

Regards to you both

What everyone else says, just great.....like the black eye idea. I had a figure with the same problem many years ago, and I gave him an eye-patch! It worked, though:LOL:

Its a very nice cast and superb to paint, except the yellow!
Thanks both of you for the words of encouragement.
Regards

Great start Bob, I like the character you've put into the face.
Did you mix a little grey into the yellow to help it go on?
I'm picking this kit up soon.:)

Hi Malc, Thanks for the back up on the face. I did mix a tiny bit of grey into the yellow and it helps. The 28th facing was described as bright yellow so it took a few more coats but it is getting there.
You wont be disappointed with the kit it is superbly cast and fits together a dream.
Thanks again for the coment.

Glad you like him, the tip came from another member on here, John Belcher. He painted this earlier on last month
