Beautiful day and couldn't resist to go to the backyard and snap these pictures.
The standard bearer is not ready yet, still meed to add lights and shadows to the horse but it will give you an idea of his placement in this vignette.

Hi Daniel

Thanks for the pics ...no doubt the BBQ was in action if weather good !

Like the trumpeter conversion , really good lining and again very distinctive

The Standard looks good in place on the groundwork

As always looking forward to seeing more

Happy benchtime

Love the standard bearers horse, that is a beautiful dappled grey. The trumpeter is going to be rather stunning as well, will that be another grey horse?

Cheers Simon

Thanks Simon,
It wasn't that hard, it jist take time to get to what you are ok with Lookwise.
Cheers.

I have decided to try a new technique,
Rather than build up the coat skirts usin putty i cut a piece of lead foil, sanded a little and glued them from the lower back to the front below the waistbelt.
Then , once the glue cured completely i sanded some areas to bring the seam line between the lead foil and figure , lead foil works pretty good when sanded right and blends perfectly onto the figure .
I was not happy with the paint lines on the back so i sanded the entire back, cleaned , primed and painted the base silver/white color, the lower portion of the skirt was base coated with scale 75 Navy blue and vallejo Royal blue.
The horse for this figure is on its way from NZ ( Triguars), that is one of the factors that made me try this technique, this way i can bend and shape the tails when i place the figure on horseback.

Hey, it worked for Madame Desfontaines, right?

I've used foil instead of putty for an application like this, too. I....figured, that it gives me a better scale thickness, and durability in that thickness, than putty. I still will use putty, too, but it's certainly an arrow in my quiver.

And, I have a bucket full of lead foil envelopes from X-ray blanks, that I got from my dentist when he still had the old X-ray machine. It was too little an amount to warrant the cost the environmental disposal services charge, and he didn't want just to dump it. We were talking about building models and figures, and I mentioned using lead foil. He said, "Wait a minute..." and brought out the bucket. "You want this?" "Sure, Doc!"

Prost!

That is so nice of your dentist!.
I will have to start searching for more Lead foil, really hard to get tyem these days.
Cheers!

With your hability it will not be a big deal
Simon!

You have more faith in my abilities than I do, I seem to recall back in the 70's & 80's people used to use stiffened tissue paper to make billowing robes and such like. Might all be academic anyway now that toothpaste tubes and wine bottle foil are all plastic, oh well.

Cheers Simon
