Generally with 40 mm i use very little washes on the uniforms, but i do use washes when it comes to weapons.
Vallejo black for silver or Sepia for golds/brass.
Nice work on the banner, the size comparison on your finger is very telling of the Scale of these lite gems.

Thanks mate, I tend to use them with my 28mm as things like faces need them for the shadow areas, and also on some areas of the uniforms to get some good deffinition.
