Coat, vest and pants done, buttons still need color.
Belts were done with a base of Army painter brown Leather with a dab of light sand in order to resemble natural leather, I added some vallejo umber wash to it and highlihted the edges with light sand.

The cartridge box was painted with burnt red , added some wear by using vallejo orange brown, then a light wash of Vallejo umber after i drew the royal Cypher ( center), the wash helped to dull the brown/ black Royal Seal in order to reflect normal wear out of the stamped seal.

I may use the old version of the cartridge box ( edged with white and white Anchor) in other figures later on . Trooos sent to New France and the colonies not always had the " latest Fashion" for the army.

Washes have their uses even on larger figures but there is a need to tightly control them, somewhere between a wash and glazing, I have heard it referred to as a 'juice' among the gaming minis people.

Cheers Simon

Yes, but i am very careful when it comes to a larger than 40mm figure, I had a few instances i had to go back and fix it after applying a wash.

Thanks Mate,

I am planning a diirama of about 8 or 9 figures including a Huron chap.

This gentleman is looking good

Do you find it easier to paint things like muskets when fitted as in pictures ?

Liking the sound of the grouping especially the Huron

Thanks for pics

Looking forward to seeing more

Happy benchtime

Thanks Kev!.

As for the Musket, I have done it few times, it does really not make a difference to me, by glueing the bare metal musket to the bare hand it sticks better and stronger than if the musket is primed or painted.
All i do is carefully apply the brush on primer, then the colors on the musket.
Now, it all depends what the position of the musket is, it it is too close to the front of the uniform ( like holding at ready) i normally take care of painting the musket first.

Cheers!
