Think you're being harsh on yourself here, Steve - the Bren gunner's face looks spot-on to me, his eyes especially convey a totally different sense of character to the Cpl Reynolds figure.

What I'm trying to say is that sometimes you see a multi-figure vignette or diorama where all the figures' faces look identical, & some manufacturers receive criticism because a lot of their faces look too similar. The 2 heads you've painted here are very different, & that highlights your painting skills & also Steve R's sculpting.
Keep at it!

Project is travelling along at a steady pace and nice quality painting, I think the faces look fine however we all know that feeling when we aren't 100% happy but some wee touches of weathering/dirt can work wonders if its not over done, its a great looking kit and fair play to you for showing us your progress.

Thanks Chris, good points, all of them. Even my wife mentioned these guys are different, why should their skin tones be the same. Ah, she's a keeper!!!

Hi Terry, thanks for the compliments. I do have a punch list going for these faces already, so when the paint is completely dry I'll work a few more details, rosy check, etc. I've learned long ago to stop messin with the oils after a bit. Continually messing with the paint can lead to bigger problems and trash all that work.

Thanks for watchin Gents!

I agree there

Coming on nicely Steve ...a great SBS from you

You raised a good point about not continually messing ......a break and fresh eyes as they say

Look forward to more

Happy benchtime

Back at it again, finally. Unfortunately there were a few winter chores that kept me from the bench, snow being just one of them, so taking off from my last stop did mess with my momentum. I had to wash this mate's face twice already. Ain't nothin but a thang, right?

Working with the same method as the other two I was able to get the main facial features taken care of. The punch list will be the same for this face, just like the last two, and will be done when it is fully dried. I went ahead and gave the chin strap a base leather tone for facial clarity. There's still plenty to do here, but we have the major work completed.

So far so good, I'm liking it ok. I'll be going over this face closely to see if any more details are needed before closing him out.

Here's a few shot of the trio. I'm going to leave these guys alone until the last face is done. We're making progress.

I might add that I am enjoying working with this painting technique. What I'm finding is that after a period of time I'm not having to revert back to my notes or videos. If I feel I'm starting to lose focus I quickly look up at my photo references and examples and they bring me right back in line. I'm still not out of the woods yet, but I do see the clearing up ahead, HA!

Ok, off to finish team Mate number 4, so more to follow soon.

Lastly, if you see any obvious discrepancies or areas requiring attention, please holler, I appreciate the constructive criticism.

Thanks for watchin. Cheers, Ski.

Hi Mr Ski

There's nothing wrong with your "thang"

Looking good on the flesh I like the variations in the tones and the highs

Bring on # 4

Happy benchtime ..enjoy the snow!

Keep up the good work and keep us updated when more progress is available.

Cheers!

Thanks Dolf, but my net has been down for 5 days and now I can finally post updates, hopefully within a day or two.

Thanks for the support Brother! Cheers, Ski.

Hi Steve,

When the Net goes down... :yuck:

As a matter of fact I found out last time it happened here, that the only way to spend some quality time was focusing on modeling, so I did some progress in a couple of projects :joyful:

Looking forward for more updates (y)

Cheers!
