69. Day, February 1, 2019

Today I started with the sampling of the edge of "Aksinja's" scarf!

For start, I painted a thin border between the main surface and the ebdge.

It consists of the main colors of the dark red area ...:

The meaning of the exercise:

Thus the main colors for the eye are "pulled" over to the edge - which prevents a later "biting" of the different colors ...:

And next week again: "cucumbers" ...

Have a nice weekend!

Cheers

Hi Martin

Very nicely done on the edging ....

The clothing of this young lady has been particularly detailed and for me it's worked well ...although I salute your dedication to the pattern...the colourful contrast between the 2 pieces is very definate

Have a good weekend and bring those " cucumbers " out for next week

I’d be thinking to really desaturate the orange towards the base..there is a bit too much flower but look as though the orange is a bunch of petals the red rises from..hope that makes sense and isn’t offensive. I read this every day..owe you the following as respect for your hard work

No problem with your criticism - it is absolutely constructive! Thanks for that!

At the end, when the pattern is finished, I will paint the shodows on it!
And I'm going to do that with "Pompeiian Red" - that's a brown color that gently goes into red ...:

The effect will be something like you describe it ...
(At least I'm planning / hoping that!)

But tomorrow comes one last round of "painting patterns".

Cheers

I like mussini myself..think about their lazur brown oxide..transparent..might do the job with a touch of Pompeii added at the lowest edges..critique..not criticism..I try to critique..studying design, the crits were brutal..same as in bicycle racing..the crits hurt

Hi Martin

The pattern continues ...one day and it will be finished ..you must be happy !

Good comments fom both yourself and grasshopper about the orange as well ...looking forward to seeing the nd effect .

Thanks for sharing

Yep - I think I will make some completely different: a Cossack! :D

It will be an officer of the famous "Wolves Division" led by General Shkuro...

...during the Russian civil war...:

It will have no legs :p but two heads  for its a horseman/horse bust - even an unique piece...

Just finished to paint the shadows on the orange edge!

With this...:

The original painting I left untouched only where the high lights are ...:

The dark red areas and the orange of the edge now fit together really well!

I worked on the scarf for almost ten weeks - and when I see the end result in front of me, I have to say: every damn single hour was worth it!

Have a nice weekend!

Cheers
