Hi Mike

I was wondering how you'd go for the pelisse , good start , it's going to take a fair bit of work to get the colour right but you will get there

Look forward to seeing more

Have FUN @ the bench

Hi Nap,

You were not kidding on the fair bit of work in the Pelisse.

I’m still working on it it’s just super slow going. I didn’t want to overwhelm the figure with too much contrast. I’m hoping to be able to finish the main body Pelisse this weekend and get a start on the lace.

Right now I’m trying to get the tonal values to match up.

Thanks for looking!

This guy is looking great, lovely colour tones and the low contrast painting style is working nicely.
Never know, you may find that you end up exploring the hyper realist style if this one continues as well as it is.

Hi Mike

The pelisse paint might be slow but it's working well , agree ref not too much contrast

I took mine out the box yesterday ....it's nice but thought better looking around at the 7 I have in various stages of prep/paint !!

Look forward to seeing more on this enjoyable and interesting thread

That lace is looking great Mike. Nothing like a full dress Hussar to test one's patience.
Yes,

My patience is being really tested! I normally paint 54MM and 75MM. This thing is huge comparatively. It’s really paint for a little while, walk away, re-evaluate and make adjustments.

It’s been a while since I’ve updated this post. The rush is on now. I have about a week and a half until the Chicago show and this is my last figure.

I’ve gotten the pelisse and hand done. I started on the pipe and plume. Hopefully I’ll have this done by this weekend. Then I am work on a tank for while and clean up the bench.

Looking really good Mike, he is a stunning piece and it's always the best part when everything comes together and suddenly he's done. Good luck at Chicago.

Cheers Simon

It's coming together beautifully, the pelisse and lacework look fantastic. Enjoy the Chicago show - having a deadline helps focus the mind!

Hi Mike

Great to see the updates , a lovely piece which will only get even better

Look forward to seeing the final pics

Have a successful show , enjoy the tank ( perhaps with figures)

Happy benchtime

Fabulous work and the 'white' as represented here really works and looks so realistic, rather than the 'pure' white some painters use to represent the 5th Regt.
