Nice work on those toggle ropes Richie, look much better now. Nice to actually see them being shown for what they were meant for and not just for wearing around the body.
Cheers mate
Steve

The ropes look good, good idea using the drill as a lathe, must try that got to be easier than sanding a skewer by hand to make a lance pole.

Cheers Simon

Hi Simon,
Thank you, just be careful if using the drill to thin down a skewer or cocktail stick ect, you only want slightly over what you need protruding from the chuck. Otherwise it will snap and fly off if too long.
Ideally leave a small thinned piece before moving the wood up in the chuck so you have a reference diameter for the next one.

Wow, the toggle ropes really bring that scene to life. I can't have been the only person who for many years wondered why the Paras carried them strange ropes around with them, but this makes it clear, even to a casual observer.

Hi Henk,
Thank you. The toggle ropes were 6' long and an inch in diameter, predominantly carried by Commando's and Para's to use as rope ladders and ropes for hauling equipment.

Hello the Leicester boys,
Dave thank you mate.

Steve totally agree mate, the only time you see them is wrapped around a static figures. Never seen a set being climbed up or used for hauling equipment.
cheers

Hi Richie

Lovely detail work on that figure , the rope looks so much better and in scale ....and you made the toggles ....even more impressive ....

Great updates , looking forward to seeing more

Have fun

Nap

Now that rope looks much better, well worth that extra bit of effort. This is coming together nicely.

Hi Mario, Nap & Nigel,
Thank you, totally agree the rope is much better, won't be lazy next time why spoil the roof for an 'apeth of tar.

Hi All,
The finishing post is in site and I'll have to order a base. I only have 2 figures to finish plus the radio operator and some work to the front of the building.
I've sprayed everything in matt varnish to seal the dust and rubble to date. I think by next weekend this one should be done and I'll start planning the next project.
cheers

That is awesome Richie, having watched you do each figure it's still full of detail.not seen before. On it's own it's epic but when the rest are put with it it'll be breath taking.

Cheers Simon

Absolutely, lovely work Richie, nice one (y) Might need to turn the bod with grenade slightly though? He seems to be about to chuck it somewhere nobody else is aiming for.
Steve

that is realy awesome if you see this, absolute fantastic work, you see the excitement in the house from the figures
that they are in a hurry, djeez can't explain it very good in English :)

Mario

This is getting better and better Richie, captures the dynamics of the battle nicely, love the fact you added the figure doing ammo resupply to the scene, battles will not last long without that major element.
Cheers mate

Hi Steve,
Thank you for all your help and advice mate that has not been publically seen. Yes definitely need the urgency of the ammo resupply. I hope I have done you proud as an ex Para from B Company.
cheers
Richie

This is chock full of action and really tells the story, looking really good!

Hi Nigel,
Thank you so much, I'm glad it has the action, urgency and story.

Richie

Hi All,
I have finished the last of the figures and sited them. To be honest I thing I could of easily found places for another 5 figures.
The radio operator was a bit more work than planned as I lost the hand with the microphone and ear phones, so had to make these.
The cord Carl sent me worked out brilliant for the leads on both and I used a different radio from another kit.
I have ordered a base from Pete and just deciding on what to put on the edge as a title/badges.

Thank you all for you help, advice and support on this first diorama(y). Thoroughly enjoyed modelling again. I will endeavour to try
and keep up the pace and better the standard on the next one. Although I have a full diorama already finished that just requires painting
I am going to leave this one for the time being.

The next diorama I am going to build is the battle for the woods Oosterbeek perimeter. I know some of the figures I have are more 54mm than 1/35 scale, I will sort through these and check the weapons and equipment sizes. I plan to have an airborne 6 pdr, mortar team and other airborne troops dug in. I will have a go at making my own trees and will make more unique figures as required.
cheers

That is epic Richie, but knowing it's just a part of a larger display is somewhat mind blowing. Really looking forward to the process evolving.

Cheers Simon
