While waiting for some Artist's oils to dry I thought I would start my next bust. This time it is FeR's British Para, Arnhem, 1944 which I purchased from Steve Kirtley at Bugle Call 2017.
It a super little 1/16th bust with nice crisp moulding and just in one part which makes a change.

I have a good reference picture from the "interweb" of the Denison smock.

Thanks Nap. yes I did get it at BC this year, I could never leave stuff 5 years without painting them.

I did use a flesh paint set, I have a couple of flesh colours that I use as a base and then I mix colours myself to get the shade I want. The set I did buy at BC was for WW2 British Armour.

I do like 1/16th but I do them too fast, but the FeR and H&V certainly have a lovely smooth finish to the mouldings.

Progress report.

I've added a 5 o'clock shadow to his face and painted the equipment straps.

Denison Smock colour added. need to go over it all with a very weak grey wash once the paint has fully dried to help blend the colours in and slightly weaken the three colours.

Green over the buff

Now the brown.

It's getting there.

Very nicely done so far - hopefully you'll be using more acrylics in the future...
Phil

Thanks Phil, I shall probably use Acrylics for faces on 1/16th or smaller busts but I shall use Artist's oil for the faces on anything larger, I do use acrylics on the rest of the bust/figure.
