I'm working in oils on this fellow (my second model) and lots to do yet, but he looks a lot better than in these pics. Haven't been able to get a good photo lighting setup yet:notworthy:.

there is a definite progression showing from your first. Don't be afraid to get in there and force shadows and highlites. I forgot to ask what medium you are using in your first posting, so which is it?
 
Hi Mike, I've used oil, haven't tried my hand at acrylic yet. I think I may be thinning my paint a bit too much, my shadows seem to disappear.

I think this looks great. Must be your experience on canvas, 'cause I can't get over the fact that this is only your second figure.:eek:

using lessaint IMHO doesn't mean diluting oil paints with turp.
You just need to spread it as far as it will go
I will thin my oils only when doing freehand drawing such as heraldry work or underpainting
