I'm working in oils on this fellow (my second model) and lots to do yet, but he looks a lot better than in these pics. Haven't been able to get a good photo lighting setup yet.

there is a definite progression showing from your first. Don't be afraid to get in there and force shadows and highlites. I forgot to ask what medium you are using in your first posting, so which is it?

Hi Mike, I've used oil, haven't tried my hand at acrylic yet. I think I may be thinning my paint a bit too much, my shadows seem to disappear.

Keep up the good work Mary, it's coming along nicely. I agree with Mike's comments regarding boosting the shadows.

I think this looks great. Must be your experience on canvas, 'cause I can't get over the fact that this is only your second figure.

Very nice work. I'm pleased that you paint in oils. I could only advice ( if i see the pictures) use less paint. Try not to cover it up in one layer.

using lessaint IMHO doesn't mean diluting oil paints with turp.
You just need to spread it as far as it will go
I will thin my oils only when doing freehand drawing such as heraldry work or underpainting
