Thanks all. Andy, I'm using the inks from Scale75.

I haven't made that much progress (haven't had enough painting time recently), but I've finished up his headgear. I wanted to do some extra detail work for the lace. I decided to go with metallic paints, but found doing freehand designs with them to be more difficult than I expected. It took me longer than I wanted, but I think I'm finally getting a feel for doing fine lines with metallic paint. Hopefully the rest will go much quicker!

Thanks, Marc and Joe.

Marc, the gold lines were not easy! I'm working with the Scale75 metallic paints, which flow very well. That was a big help! While I'm not using them anymore, the Vallejo Model Air metals also flowed very well and would be a good substitute. To get the design here, I started with the background red. Then I drew on the designs with a very dark purple. The gold went over that. The idea is to have underlying dark purple lines be wider than the gold, so it forms a very thin outline between the red and gold.

Obviously it wasn't perfect and I went over the lines in some (many) places. In those instances, I went back to the dark purple and used that to clean up the edges. The last step was to return to the initial red colors and, anywhere I used purple to clean up the edges, I put on more red to slim down the purple line. This was definitely a pain, but the more I did, the better it seemed to go.

Thanks!

Ron, I've primed the rider but not horse. I will prime the horse before I start painting it. As for the rider, some of the primer on the legs and hands has worn off due to my handling while painting. The rest of the primer is grey, so it sort of blends into the metal. I should add that I haven't found a great way to hold a mounted figure while I paint it (aside from permanently attaching it to the horse). But that's why so much primer has rubbed off of the legs

Hey Mr P absolutely first rate work, loving the results you are acheiving.

I do want to know please what brand of sticky putty or pink tac you use?
If it can hold a whole mounted figure up with a spot so small.
I want me some of that ! :)

Paul.

Ha, yeah, the picture is a little misleading! The horse has pins in the legs and those are holding it in the base. Nothing is glued, so it's just a little wobbly. So that's why I put the little dot of sticky tack.

That's a superb head and headgear.
Looking forward to your next step on what's promising to be a stunner.

Cheers,
Andrew
