This looks wonderful. Did you use oils or acrylics? What scale and who makes this? I've got a zouve that is carrying a banner. Could you help me as to what or where to find info for what may be on the flag. Great Figure

Yo Joe! Looks simply awesome, amigo! I cannot wait to see it in Chicago this week. Dude, I've got lots of questions for you on this figgie, so I hope you don't mind me asking you about it in Chicago. The banes of my existence have been painting red and fine lines (such as those you showed on this figure). I really want to hear about your methods before taking upon the greatest projects of our lives - you know which one, only the greatest "gopher" of this century or the last ;)

See you in under 72 hours!!!

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the kind comments. I really enjoyed this one. I have not done a Civil War figure for some time and was glad to finally do this one.

Guy,

I look forward to you seeing this one in person. I think that it looks much better in person than in the pictures. I just can't seem to get them to turn out right.

Brad,

This is a 54 from Time Machine. It is a nice kit. I paint in acrylics and do the flesh in oils but highlight and shadow them in acrylics. I have found a few sites that may be of some help to you. http://www.dmna.state.ny.us/historic/btlfl...lflagsindex.htm http://www.dmna.state.ny.us/historic/btlfl...y/5thInfNat.htm http://fifthvets.tripod.com/nyzouave.html I hope this helps and I look forward to seeing what you do.

Hey Petey!

No problem I will be more than glad to chat it up on the reds and etc.. ;) I also promised Gary that I would list the colors that I have used on the reds and I will do this later today.

Hey guys,

Thanks again for the very kind comments. I am pretty happy with the way he turned out but as you know there are so many things to do to try to get it better.

Jaume,

Thanks. I too thought that he was pretty blah and was not sure what would help him so I think the addition of the trim helped him out a lot.

Ernest and Gary,

Here are the mixes of reds.
Trim=v957 flat red
highlight= v947 Vermilion
shadow= a touch of AC-22 Prussian blue to base

Fez
Base =957 + 947
Highlight= base + more 957 + v845 sunny skintone
shadow= base + v 893 US dark green
deepest =shadow + touch of AC-22

pants
957 + AC-22
highlight= base + more 947
higher= 947
next high= 947 + v 911 light orange
highest =947 + 911 + 845

shadow= base + more AC-22
next= more of AC-22 and a tad of v 960 Violet
deepest AC-22 + 960

The sash was a simple mixture of the pants. I just shot for something just a shade off.

I hope this helps. :)

Joe

Joe,

Great, great expressive paint job! (y)

Too bad I didn't know you're going to Chicago. I would have brought something ;) to Chuck to give to you.

Good luck with the competition and have a good time.

Quang :)
