Hello folks,
head it's on its final place, need to work on its wig and some details on the hat.
I started to work on the tails of the coat but need the epoxy to dry up.

Daniel,

Another couple of nice pieces. What are the differences between the 1767 regulation uniform and those of the 1779 -1786 uniform?

Cheers
Chris

Hi Chris, there is quite few differences.
compare to the 1767 uniform, the new regulation uniform had its roots in 1776.
the coats had a more "prussian style", with stand up collar ,being slightly short and somehow colorful with collars in a different color than lapels and even turnbacks.
it was so unpopular the the new regulation came in 1779 with the cut of the coat 'a la Française', with long white tails .
the 1779 coat was the mother of the later napoleonic coats until they've changed to the closed up lapels in the front of the uniform.
here are two good examples of the 1767 , the 1779 and again the sligbtly modified coat regation of 1786.

Hello folks,
work it on this switzer quite few hours in the past 2 days.
i completely stripped the remaining red paint on its coat, worked on the tails and turnbacks, added the arms (from a napoleonic sergeant ) and sand it ans smoothered some parts. This is the final pose for the figure.
i always like to give it some old illustration pose look, and especially proud and somewhat arrogant look appropiate and expected from a king's guard.
i have been wanting to try scale 75 acrylic paints , they seem to be nice and very vivid colors regardless their very matt finish when dry .
i have ordered 2 shades of red to try out and it will be in my ha ds on thursday.
so i will do a little review in here as i paint on this chap.
cheers

I've got out of work early yesterday and had the chance to prime the figure.
I am using duplicolor self etching primer, so far it works great.
leaves a smooth surface and it is not very thick, dries really fast.

The scale 75 red paint arrived on the mail today, so as soon as i got home i decided to give it a try.
Out of the bottle the color is very nice and intense, but as it dries up turns very matt, almost chalky.
so, plan B, used a combination of formula P3 Khorne red and a dab of vallejo game color gory red.
much halppier to use that as a base color.
it actually looks slight darker than the picture here.
doing my research i came to the conclusion that the red coat asociated to the Franco-swiss troops was in fact a darker Red than the more scarlet british red coat.
i hope i could make a good rendition of this swiss guard simce it is one of my favorite corps of the king's household
