A fairly regular thing in clubs and forums for scale modelling is the group build...either a common theme or single piece...had been thinking around Ron, Kagamusha, and his unusual oil methods and wondering if others might be up for a PF group build? Sharing techniques and progress...had thought of sci fi, but that’s beside the point, first order would be for several folks to join in the idea, then pick the theme or piece and go from there. Could even be a manufacturer who is on PF could offer the subject piece at some modest discount or special packing..
Any thoughts?

I've seen these on the Military Modelling forum which has now gone for good. Personally I hate these "chummy" group builds and people saying "have a good build" etc. - doesn't appeal to me any more than root cavity treatment. I prefer to read the work in progress forum or completed forum which emphasise what a crap modeller I am.

Cheers

No worry Huw..I’ve never done one of the scale model ones either..and agree on the chummy stuff..was thinking more of comparing methods...encouraging new approaches ...just tossing this up to see if it’s got merit...

In my opinion the work in progress forum, sculpting forum etc. already caters for this. I suggest you trawl around the archives and you can find a lot of information on techniques that are already there.

Hi Guys

Group builds are not to everyone's choice but I see nothing wrong if members are doing the same model which happens then those posting on V bench under a thread title " model title " - Group build

Any modelling is good modelling no matter how it's approached and no matter what genre

Some years back PF had a group build of the same figure to see how the different renditions came out. I think it was run by a member called "major Goose".
It was a fun project. There was a lot of variations and bases. I think we did three or four different figures.

Thank you for the “young” compliment...if hitting on 70 counts...anyway, let’s see if others have an interest...what might you be interested in by way of topic or piece? I don’t want it to be divisive amongst makers...in scale modelling but for a few small makers it’s a big company game so picking say a Revell or hobbyboss kit doesn’t cause a ripple..but for us it’s mainly little guys outside of Pegaso, Scale 75...
