The quoit or Chakra sounds like the kind of thing one could easily 3d print and incorporate into a sculpted turban. Let me know if you want me to have a bash as it shouldn't take more than a few minutes to design.

Cheers for the offer, it needs to fit quite snuggly on the turban so I will probably just use a plastic disk so I can incorporate it into the turban. Thanks anyway.

Cheers Simon

Hello Briggs, the pose is very nice with the bust slightly rotated. It may be due to the photo, but it seems a little big to me, 7 heads high is generally to represent "heroes". I think it comes from the boots, the 3D ones are a little higher than the original boots, I measured this on photos, so nothing is certain. I'm posting the result of my measurements below, hoping that it will help you have the most accurate anatomy possible.

Agreed it does look a little odd, I will post pictures later but I have reduced the bulk of the torso somewhat, especially the shoulders. One of the other issues is the head is a little smaller than the normal Historex ones but by the time he has a bigger beard and a turban it shouldn't be too noticeable. That said I will keep in mind the issue and have a look again.

Cheers Simon

Looking at the proportions of the figure now I'm back home I think it must have been the photo that made it look odd. That and the size of the legs compared to the stripped down figure.

I have added the trousers which overlap the top of the puttees anyway, though I think I shall add a little more fullness to them. His proportions look very close to a straight built Historex figure, in fact if anything he is a little shorter but you can see the head size difference. Once the tunic and turban are in place he should look OK, I hope.

Neil, Kevin, thanks gents. His pants will get a boost! I am sure this won't be the last from the subcontinent but I have really shot myself in the foot here. When I restarted doing figures I was just going to concentrate on British and Empire subjects, nice and manageable, then came the European Armies and a collection of South American illustrations, all of the the same rough period. Then to top it all the Napoleonics bug bit me again, it's nice to be spoilt for choice subject wise but a pain trying to do it all, oh well at least I'm enjoying it but no more additional subject areas, I hope.

Cheers Simon

Just want to show off my latest acquisition which will hopefully keep some of the dust and bits off my figures during the construction and painting phases.

I have spent quite a chunk of the morning filling out my Sikhs trousers, they now look like they got with the puttees. The reason the Magicsculpt is so shiny is that I used olive oil to help blend the new putty into the old cured stuff.

I think the issue with his proportions looks better now the mannequin is starting to get filled out.

AND another quick update, his beard has been added, a Sikh cannot cut his facial hair so the beard gets rather long. To keep it tidy and out of harms way it is parted on the chin, either side is then rolled and tied up under the turban.

He also has a plastic disk stuck to the other side of the turban, this is the steel quoit mentioned in an earlier post. Once the putty is cured I will build the other side of the turban incorporating the disc so it looks like a steel ring held in place by the bulk of the turban.

I knew they didn't cut their beards but I didn't know about how they dress it. See what we learn here in the Planet? :D
Nice progress, Simon!

Prost!
Brad

Cheers Brad, every day is a school day so they say, apart from next week when I get my Granddaughter back because it is half term already!

Cheers Kev, without checking I believe this fella is 15th Ludhiana Sikhs, the turban colours give it away but the uniform is the same pattern.

I'll make a start on the tunic before re assessing the trousers, don't want to risk making him look like Cocco the clown.

The drying/dust box is great, with a dog and three cats in the house I need it.

Cheers Simon

Yes the medals, been a while since I looked at Indian Army medals, I need to get the Punjab Frontier, Samantha and Tirah Campaign medals but I have a book for that. Since the whole Garrison died I won't be doing the Indian Order of Merit, well I might, I'll decide when I get there.

Couldn’t resist the battles you mention are on clasps worn on the Indian General Sevice Medal Ribbon: Red with two green stripes.
