Couldn’t resist the battles you mention are on clasps worn on the Indian General Sevice Medal Ribbon: Red with two green stripes.

Damn that means only one medal so maybe I'll give him an Indian Order of Merit just for the hell of it. Did the Military Historical Society issue a list of recipients or am I confusing that with something else?

The final Sikh defender, Signalman Gurmukh Singh, who was in touch with Col. Haughton, throughout the battle, sends his last message to Haughton, saying, “This is my last signal. Picking up gun to fight.” He reportedly killed more than 20 Afghans. While on his deathbed, he was heard shouting "Jo Bole So Nihal, Sat Sri Akal" repeatedly, according to information from Afghan sources.

The Afghans later claimed that around 180 were killed and many more were injured during the battle against the 21 Sikh soldiers. However, when the relief party arrived, they reported seeing about 800 bodies around the destroyed post. All 21 Sikhs were posthumously awarded the Indian Order of Merit, the highest gallantry award at that time for Indian soldiers conferred by the British crown.

Many thanks Kev, I might just have to give him an IOM for some other heroic action, probably putting up with me!

Many thanks Kev, the build is going quite nicely at the moment, it's all the other ones that are causing the stress just now. I should be at the bench instead of watching fireworks with the Granddaughter and family, oh well we all have trials to endure.

Oh and thanks for the pintrest plug, best make sure it's up to date!

Cheers Simon, indeed, the proportions look good now, it was definitely from the photo. Nice work, I'm following the progress with great pleasure!!

Cheers you did have me worried, I checked and rechecked the figure with my dividers, compared it to other Historex based figures. I think it was partly the photo and the fact the lower legs were so filled out against a stripped down mannequin figure and the fact the trousers have been made to blouse over the tops of the puttees.

Anyway no probs because here he is, armatures for the arms, the flap of the tunic skirt, which if things go as they usually do I'll end up snapping. So now I need to wait for the putty to dry.

Cheers Scotty and David, I have to admit that one of the attractions of the 36th Sikhs is the turban is all red, no fine lines and patterns to paint.

And just because I have nothing better to do on a Sunday I have done a bit more.

Really just blocking in the body of the tunic front and back.

Still need to outline the front panel of the so called zouave jacket and he will need a SNCOs sash so I haven't put much in the way of creases into it yet.

Cheers Simon
