Wait..what??
What happened to Halfords primer? It used to be my favourite go to primer? As it happens, I've not bought any for a while, I've been using cheap rattle cans from B&M and Home bargains and such, but I was going to look for some new cans soon... What is the problem with Halfords Simon?

Henk, it was mentioned on another thread a few weeks ago, I can't remember where.

The grey primer gave a coarse surface for the paint to key to perfectly. However they have changed to formula and now it gives a smooth finish with a slight sheen, similar to Tamiyas professional primer. This gives nothing for the paint to key to and handling during painting rubs the acrylic paint off. It is even worse using oils, I have done a Scots Grey on horse back very recently but won't post it due to the constant rubbing off and reapplying of paint making it look awful.

Can't complain really as it is designed for cars but it was always good stuff, alas the death knell has wrung on that go option.

I have been painting the General for a few days now but never seemed to get around to photos.

So here they are;

The cuirasse looks a bit rough, that's down to the photography because it looks pretty smooth and blended in reality, no really it does!

I used various shades of SC75 silver/steel metallics, same brand Navy Blue and Vellajo metal colour Pale Burnt Metal and SC75 Metal Alchemy Speed Metal for the highlights.

Lovely start, I am liking the general so far.....

That's can be the downside of taking photos on the phone. They tend to emphasise highs/lows, and can thus create contrasts that we aren't seeing in reality.

Malkie, Nap and Nigel, thank you gents he is coming along quite nicely. The lace work is just short bursts of concentration followed by a rest and then repeat. Trying to do it all in a one leads to messy painting for me, so plenty of cups of tea. There is still some work needed on the metal work so hopefully even my phone will be complimentary, mind you it rarely does what I want it to so I'm not holding my breath.
