Finished the base of the figure. At the beginning it was too "deserty" for a prussian hussar, so I added some vegetation. Still doesn't feel to me like central Europe, but I want to move on. Next (and hopefully final) step, it putting it in the final, plated base (by S-73). The plate will be ordered from a local printing and signs shop.

Only 8 months to go until this year's end...

As always, I will appreciate your feedback.

Hey guys,

I used a Forstner bit to carve a round depression in my wooden base. I was stupid and lazy enough to do it without a vise and a drill press and it almost ruined the base and almost cost me my left hand. I also created a larger diameter than I planned, so I had to enlarge the groundwork around the base of the figure with some magic sculpt. I turned out ok in the end, but it was definitely more luck than brains.

The figure is complete now, I will post the photos shortly

Really lovely looking figure, so glad it didn't cost you a hand. He has really come out well and deserves front row in the cabinet.

Cheers Simon

Thank you vey much, Simon, for the kind words. For the near future he will be pretty lonely in the cabinet - I am an extremely slow builder. This is only my third figure, and the previous two were given as gifts...

Cheers,

Benny

Thank you very much Kevin!

Well done for getting to the finish line, the end result looks really good.

Don't rush into your next one though......;):)

Thank you very much Nigel. I will definitely not rush: I fly this week to the US (Washington DC) for a whole month, and when I'm back we have to move the house, plus I even haven't decided yet what will be the next project.. So no WIP posts from me soon....
