Hi David

In between eating all the crumble , nice progress on the frock coat , might I suggest looking at the water bottle strap , there’s a small gap

Look forward to seeing more on this

Happy benchtime

Thanks Nap
The strap will be obscured by the arms, when they're attached.
So hopefully the gap will be invisible.
Cheers

Maybe I'll start a "traditional puddings" thread?
We could swap ideas and recipes from different countries.
(Actually, that's starting to feel like a good idea)

In the Lounge ...adding models of chefs as this is a Figure forum !

Lovely neat painting on the cuff detail and chevrons with the shading going through. I always try painting a whole garment or at least the various phases of it in one go just to make sure I keep the mixes consistent. Of course it would help if I could remember the mixes from one session to the next

I've taken to keeping a 5 x8 index card next to my wet pallet. When I mix a new uniform color I paint a little square on my card and write down the colors used. I label the card according to the figure and keep them all in a folder. That has helped me a lot when I paint another figure with similar colors. I could never remember a paint formula from one figure to the next. Works for me.

David, you have inspired me to get back to work on my own FeR Iron Brigade figure. Had it primed and undercoated for months but put it on the shelf. Your figure is coming along nicely. Since you have moved along with the sleeve I wanted to point a detail out to you. You may already know this. The infantry blue chevrons are on a dark blue wool patch. I have attached a couple of pictures of originals. There were also times when the stripes were hand sewn directly to the uniform sleeve especially Confederate uniforms. One other item about this figure...the single brass button on the collar. I don't know where the sculptor came up with this but it's not regulation and I have never seen it on a Federal uniform. Your call on that one. Hope this helps

Thanks for the advice. I'll be toning the chevrons down in due course, but will have to use artistic licence as it's too late to add dark blue between them at this stage (something to bear in mind hereafter).
And the button can stay now that painting is this far advanced.

It's a good idea keeping records like that, I have tried but keep losing the bit of paper or even note books used. Considering by profession I am a records manager my own personal admin is awful, I do better just muddling through and hoping for the best, it doesn't really work out a lot of the time but hey ho.

I'd gladly swap weather David, hot humid and horrible down south, give me rain every time.

Bow hunting sounds interesting, limited range I would imagine requires more stalking skill from the hunter.

I'd enjoy it, too.
Natural hunting, and a connection with ancestors.
Interestingly, our range is quite big, so multiple lanes are in use when it's busy.
Today, I was retrieving my arrows as others were shooting at a more distant target. And I could clearly hear the hiss of the arrows flying past.
A little bit of Agincourt in the air.

I have seen plenty of wildlife on ranges up and down the country, but a GPMG would be a bit unfair.

I know it's very different but on a rifle range no way would anybody be between the firing point and the targets, would need a lot of trust in the other archers! Still it would be quite exhilarating hearing that.

Not against hunting in anyway, my personal take is if I am going to.kill it, it's because I'm going to eat it. I also feed the fox in the garden every night, even buy dog food for when there aren't enough leftovers! I also have cats who will watch Magpies eating their foot not 3 metres away and won't even twitch a tail, lazy buggers.

Cheers Simon
