You must have used a whole packet of Spearmint Leaves on this one Colin.

This is great stuff, Colin, very well done. The lace and insignia are terrific. Like a phoenix, arising from the ashes...........(y)
Award yourself a bloody good pat on the back!

Thanks for the encouraging comments. I think Piet was right re. the width if the baldrick so it has come off and I am redoing it. Some of the devices were a bit rough too so I shall slow down this time.

Beautiful work Colin, as all your Napoleonic busts. How do you sculpt the oak leaves on the uniform?

I put down a fine string of putty in "S" shapes to represent the branches. I then apply elongated ovals of putty and flatten them. Halve the flattened oval with the back of a #11 blade. Using a scribing tool (small ball on the end) I press in the sides of each oval to get the leaf shape. Using a small cone shaped colour shaper tool. I press into the leaves to provide some texture. I can try to take pix and SBS it if you would like.

Colin, I have to disagree with you on this one...

The overall attitude on the 2nd version is much better I think... look at the side by side pic... the 2nd has the head cocked and chin up... big attitude! Very F.U.!!!! The facial features are also more defined on this one as well. And also, to me, the hand holding the hat is better positioned than the first one.

The tiny details... I can't speak to the accuracy of all the tiny details, so I won't nitpick. May I also suggest that you don't nitpick either. I looks fantastic!!! I know as the sculptor/painter, you see every little thing BUT you gotta resist the urge... self scrutiny is what happened to the last Lannes.

Hi Colin. Colin biker is absolutely right.
I too would love to see an SBS and some pics.

Cheers

Looks super Colin!

Good on you for maintaining focus and hunkering down to ultimately come up with another standout.

Second time is a charm, eh ;)

Colin
this is looking really good
The face, I think is far superior to the first one, the whole figure is looking excellent.

Bob

Colin,
Outstanding sculpting, as always! Great start on the painting, and I love the eyes! Looking forward to the next installment.

Best Regards,

Rod
