Ron, the overpaint is simply stains of oils used for the face. I did not care about cleaning surrounding areas, knowing that the fur and the colback would be painted in black.

Interesting you are painting him assembled with sabretache and sabre. Would never have thought of that.

Looks great so far. I agree with Colin, I've always found trying to paint around the sabretache/scabbard/sword belt combo to be more frustrating than anything and usually ends up with one or more straps being broken or creased badly. I wish I could make it work the way you have as I hate gluing over painted areas.
Anyway, I do quite like the yellow you've developed for the overalls... very nice, subtle shading and highlighting.

What colour are you going for to do the pelisse?

Colin

Colin - he as the pelisse ground done .... in white. I missed it too. But that's right for Manhes.

Ahhh... on second look I can see the shading on the white. I'm getting blind in my old age  It'll show better when some of the surrounding colours are blocked in.

Colin

Scabbard and sabretache are glued together and the former is glued to the leg as well.
This is quite solid and will be - if I may say so - easy to paint so assembled.

Still a lot more to do on the horse with lights, shadows and reflections. Plus eyes, mane, tail, hooves, etc.
And metallics, gloves and other details on Manhès.

The gold lace is superb Paul as is all the figure so far !, what oil mix did you use on the white?good old oils you cant beat them! Gerry.
