That's some great work,
I'll have to try that out, looks very effective and simple!!
Coming together nicely, a three figure story!
Cheers
Jamie

Yep Jamie with right components these guys have good versatility.
Got another one in mind of some ANZACs hitting the beach under fire.
Maybe a late year project.

Thanks for sharing your comments.

Very good face job and is that hair you have painted on his arms? looking great (y)
Hard to believe you've got arm hair on a 54mm.
Superb start.(y)
Looking pretty fine so far Mike, and thanks for displaying your palette.
Joe

Thanks to each of you for taking time to post.
Hair on arms is just a visual representation as Shep Paine said in his book:
"Detail that you see is not fully discernible in its true form, and appears instead as a pattern of highlights & shadows."

I suspect folk leave out one or the other when trying to show detail.
On this one I spent as much time on flesh highlight as on trying to depict hairy fore arms.

Hope this makes some sense guys & thanks for your support.

Back to the bench.
Mike

PS Joe glad palette detail was of interest too.
Based on Powell's "Colour Mixing Recipes for Portraits"

Updates photos taken as commemoration of ANZAC Day 2014.

"...They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them..."

Mike, the detail on that face is just brilliant - particularly at 54mm! He is looking superb.
Hope you're enjoying Anzac Day there across the pond. All the best!
