Well guys, there is a new editor at MM and he's very interested in figure articles.
So I for one will get busy, and hopefully so will some other contributors.;)
We'll certainly try and do our best for you.

Malc

I understood that he was only a temporary appointment - be good if he isn't and it takes the magazine to it's vintage era of a mix of figures, afvs and historical articles.

Cheers

Hi Huw

I didn't know that, but lets hope he's able to get the mag back on track.

Will be interesting to see how this works out. Martyn Chorlton is the new contributing editor according to the MM Forum and when I googled him up to find out about his work he seems to have authored many books - about WW2 Aircraft..

More news on the MM site. Martyn is acting as contributing editor and has the job of trying to save the magazine. He said there won't be aircraft so immediately someone wanted aircraft but was told to f-off in a very diplomatic and polite manner (I'd have just sad f-off and buy an aircraft modelling mag but that's my gentle nature) and he is interested in receiving ideas from people so for those interested here's the chance that the former editor didn't give (as far as I know)! I hope it will revert to the magazine of the 1970s to 2000s with a mixture of figures, armour and history and not just one or two writers.

Cheers

I have heard through the grapevine, that a certain Mr Horan, may be doing some articles for MM.:)
That will be fantastic, his work is an inspiration to many of us.
Lets hope we won't have to wait too long.

I'm sure that someone somewhere will complain about too many figures now... Just a someone complained about the Waterloo bicentenary issue when someone on a MM forum said words to the effect what was so interesting and important about the battle...

All I can say is bring on Bill!

Just downloaded the first issue under the new editor. After a first glance I think it's a good start with a couple of good figure articles and quite a few of the articles must have been prepared before the new regime. Of concern is that there arent too many advertisers.

I'd be interested in seeing what others think about it.

Good to hear Huw. It is a concern about the lack of advertising, but I suppose its all down to cost, and as previously mentioned manufacturers can advertise free of charge on websites like this. however lets hope that as the magazine picks up, it will encourage more advertising.

Anyway i'd better get on with my painting and writing, 2 articles on the go, who said retirement would be fun.

Hi Bob
It may only be a one off at this stage, but I'll try and find out if there are anymore planned.
Ivan Cocker has an article in the next issue, and some other person, who's name escapes me;) will have one/two in a future issues.
As far as I'm aware some of the contributors are busy painting and writing, to help try and restore MM to what is was.

Thanks Malc, I did have an article published in MM in the mid 80s. I did a small conversion on DF Grieve's 100mm Black watch figure, But my painting will have to improve vastly as I took up the brush again 3 years ago.

I just downloaded the latest issue and to me it has some of the feel of MM of old with some vehicles, a diorama and a vehicle with figures. The new editor has also nicely introduced an aircraft marking article to the magazine. So far this editor appears to me to be starting to change things and can hopefully lead a renaissance for MM. Definitely more figure articles are needed though.

Cheers
