Other view showing a tear in the hat. Also note the hole on the back part of the brim.

The next posting(s) will show continued work on the 75mm "Brown Bess" and M1842 musket.

Here is the 75mm "Brown Bess" lock almost complete. The "cock" or trigger has a couple more pieces until it's complete. All that will remain is the rest of the butt plate and sling swivels.

I finally finished my 75mm "Brown Bess" musket that is being mailed off today for casting. I hope to use it on future one off and commercial projects.

A detail shot. The cock (trigger) is a separate piece to allow for easy mold making/casting.

Next to be finished is my M1842 musket and then onto an Austrian Lorenz.

Johan, Thank you. This is the third "Brown Bess" that I have done that will be produced by Michael Roberts Ltd. I have now done one in 54mm, 120mm and now 75mm that would work great for conversion/scratchbuilt projects. There are other to be done but no real schedule for their construction/production. Stay tuned.~Gary

Roc, Thanks for the kind words.

Jason, Getting this stuff done is way overdue, but at least I'm finally getting them done.~Gary

I'm still working on finishing up these two 54mm rifles and really want to get them done. I hope to keep my odds and ends thread active in the coming weeks concentrating not only on finishing up the overdue projects but some 1/35 and 1/24 (for 75mm projects) items to help get my figure projects a little more quickly through the armature stage and into the finishing stage. This will be a mix of weapons, equipment and boot/shoe blanks that I'd like to get cast.~Gary

While progress continues, slowly I may add on my 54mm rifles, I'd like to share other items I am working on that I hope to get cast to help facilitate the speed in which I get things done.

B5 Ammunition boots These were the ankle high hobbnailed boot worn by the British Tommy in WW1. I am in the progress of making two pair, one in 1/24 (75mm) and the other in 1/35. These will eventually be joined by infantry equipment in their repective sizes. These boot "blanks" could also be altered to represent other types of footwar. though I plan on doing some "plain" shoe/boot blanks for other periods.

The references used were WW1 titles produced by Osprey. I find that anything illustrator/author Mike Chappell has done is well researched. The photos are also very helpful.
