Ok, Taff!.. keep at it!... these are the initial cover references that will be of help! 1) Cartacci, 2)Verlinden,..
if I can locate the Verlinden, you can have it!... it is very helpful.
Taff I thought you were making him into a parade ground soldier, not knocking him about to make a battle veteran.
Don't lose heart mate everything can be fixed. I notice you don't have him pinned, if you pin the boots and use a pin vice to clamp the pin, then hold the pin vice while you are painting this with be a sturdy method.
Like I said earlier block in the boots and tunic you will see how different the breeches will look, you are focusing too hard on your perceived mistakes. You can subtly adjust these later.
Mind I agree with Mark.............Steve give him a swift quick in the pants.
Give it a wash Taff, just a midrange between the darkest and lights and you can go back to add the last lights.
Now, i am a high contrast fan,so if i was you i would probably add just the last lights in pure white, but i am not an expert.
Best regards mate and don't get discourage.
As mentioned before, block in the surrounding colours, especially with white. It's hard to tell how it will look by itself... moreso on white primer.
Lay down some red above and black below and you'll get a better idea of the white.
Just keep going. Don't get wound up about mistakes... remember what you did and don't do it ever again
Cheers Colin, to be honest mate I find that I'm learning something new with every stroke. I think I will take your advise and do the boots and tunic, then hopefully what will give me a better idea.
Paint the boots and cummerbund.
Then have another peep.
I would say you could increase the highs further.
You'll get a better perspective once you've got off your Harris
and blocked those other bits in.
Carl.
The thing is that every cummerbund I've seen is different. Some are the same colour as the tunic and some arent. So I'm going to have to get that nailed too.
