Prettyjohns VC bust

Hi all

Having released the bust it's time for me to have a go at painting it - even though I know my painting is not up to the standards of many on this forum.

Here goes.

Usually I start with the head, the problem is that having finished the head I have a tendency to rush the torso, so this time I'm reversing the order and starting with the torso. Or rather I started the torso yesterday, here are the results of yesterday evening and a bit of work this morning.






This evening will be a bit more work refining all of the details, especially around the insignia.

The arm insignia looks nice Peter - is it a trade badge?

Hi Chris - it is the insignia of a Royal Marine Colour Sergeant.

Good to see you painting the new release ,

Medals look good ...especially the blue ribboned VC ( as you know it changed on formation of the RAF in 1918 ) I put a shadow around mine on busts

Will you push the uniform colour more ?

I have recently been doing torso first but sometimes find painting fiesh a little difficult to get going ......be interested in how you find it
