First, I hope that everyone is safe and well where ever you are in the world. We are definitely living in very frightening times.
The painting of my RHA diorama is coming along. The 3 RHA figures are 99% finished so I started on the team of horses. The horses of the RHA were dark bays or chestnuts.
Two are complete. I have enclosed some photos.
The first picture shows the under coat of the basic colour. I always paint horses in oils. There's more time to move paint around while it is still "flexible".
With all this "guilt free" time on our hands, we should all take advantage of it and model away, but alone!
My message from Canada to all is this,
Stay Calm. Stay Home.
Thank you.

Nice job, I remember quite a while back watching a programme called Modellers World, I don't know who it was doing Historex horses but I remember he said he always put plasticard between the two halves as he believed they always looked too narrow, I couldn't tell myself to be honest

Sounds like Max Longhurst. If I remember rightly, the programme was compered by Bob Symes-Schutzman.

I have done the very same.
HISTOREX horses are quite beautiful as racing stallions, but a bit on the light side for a Napoleonic cavalry mount.
I use a piece of the base that comes with the horses as a 'shim'.
Stay tuned and stay safe, at HOME everyone.

Yes, difficult to say who first promoted this idea. I remember seeing Dr Mike Thomas (another great Historex modeller, from Wales) using it in a modelling demo back about 1975 or so. Agree that the Historex horses are fine for light cavalry bur a are a bit lightweight for heavies or gun horses, hence the need to broaden their beam sometimes. The Airfix Collector's Series horses were a bit heftier in that respect

Thanks for the encouragement gentlemen.
I hope you and your families are all well wherever you are.
(BTW Richard Baxter I have quite a few of the original AIRFIX Collector's Series Napoleonic mounted figures for sale.)
Here are the 4 artillery horses finished to this point.
Bridles and harnessing still need to be created, painted and added.
Now I will move onto the 4-5 French Chasseurs. Their mounts were rather small so I will not have to add the plastic shim between the 2 body halves.
This diorama was to be complete in time to enter the Ontario Model Soldier Society (OMSS) annual competition in June. It has now been cancelled as is everything else.
No worries, now there is no rush.
Stay Calm. Stay Home.
